I tried this at the Eccentric Cafe before buying some. It tasted smoother and more mellow out of the tap. I think with age, the rough edges will go away. It was quite delicious at the cafe. BTW, thank you Bell's for the whole Planet series and keeping the prices reasonable. I bought 24 bottles for $43, tax included.

Snagged a sixer at Meijer earlier - only $10 in fact.

I like it, very solid and balanced for something loaded to the holy hilt with ingredients. Could use a bit more heat but still a nice treat to round out the planet's.

I enjoyed Neptune, little burn at the end but quite good. Planet series was priced well especially from The Cafe!

Definitely a fan of this. The black and cayenne pepper give it a nice little kick, and it is well balanced for the plethora of ingredients. Very unique and different stout. Might have to snag another 6-pack if it's still there, even though I hate buying when I know it's clearly over priced ($18). I'm jealous of all the scores I hear about at Meijer. Davison Meijer has the staples, and a solid selection, but never any "whales."

I loved this beer. Liked it better than Saturn, it's right about on par with Mars for me... but I think fresh Mars was my favorite of the series.

I have drain poured the few habanero beers I've tried and was worried Neptune would cause me to do the same.

Pleasantly surprised that was not the case. Although the heat of the cayenne is noticeable it isn't a heartburn heat I get from the habanero styles.

Found 2 bottles at $5 a pop in Wixom. Way overpriced, but I had to try it. I can't believe they thought this should be a $30 6-pack.

Especially when it's a $43 case at the source.

So can this be aged at all?

I think it'll age great for a couple years.

Decent beer. Tastes like spicy black licorice to me.

I called today and they said they were sold out unfortunately. But at least it is still on tap at the source

A bit confused about aging this. The bottle states "keep refrigerated" but my aged stuff is in a dark spot in the basement. Cool, but not refrigeration cold. I picked some up at the general store the day of the release after trying it first in the pub. The taste changes as it warms up while drinking it. I would guess that the same thing will happen in a different way on the shelf.

At under two bucks a bottle I'd say it's definitely worth four to six dollars to experiment with aging it.

It has a "C" on the bottle date which is their code for unlimited shelf life.

Good to know. Didn't know about the shelf life code. This should be good during the winter holidays. Good now, but not a great choice on a 90 degree day.

Now that I've had a couple bottles of this, for some reason I'm enjoying it more out of the bottle than I did on tap. Or maybe my palate was screwed up the weekend I had it on tap, although I had two pours on two different days. Just doesn't seem to be as hot out of the bottle.

I had my doubts, but I'll eat them now.
Maybe mines too cold still, but I can't pick out any individual ingredient flavor, just the smokiness, like a smoked Expedition.
