Sounds similar to OPA from Fort George. Which is a beer I love!

Anybody seeing this yet? I'm only about an hour from the brewery and figured it would be all over the place by now.

It's out and very tasty. You can always find it at the company store. I found it at the gas station in Lawton.

Does anyone know if this going to get full distro? Would it be considered a seasonal/special release, or do they intend on putting in the regular rotation?

Bells website says it is year round and I believe it will get full distro.

It didn't do much for me in that it tasted like all the other session ales out there right now, maybe even less exciting than All Day or No Problems.

An interesting taste. Lots of oats and an almost peppery/seasoned finished. Different and drinkable.

Agreed. I was disappointed in this beer and glad I only purchased a single and not a sixer. Maybe my expectations were skewed, but I really don't know what Bells is going for with this beer. Had a harsh grain profile that kind of reminded me of an AAL when warm. The hop profile really wasn't interesting and I was expecting more dry-hop aromas that weren't there. Probably too bitter for your typical AAL type drinker, but lacking a nice hop profile that many craft drinkers will be looking for. Apparently the oats were supposed to add a slight haze to the beer and add a creamy mouthfeel, but neither was a noticeable characteristic of this beer. Kind of reminded me of a less hoppy version of Founders Solid Gold.

I guess I'm on the other end and love it. Thought oats gave it a full mouthfeel which is a nice change from the other session beers out there. Not super hoppy but nice nose to it. Great tasting beer for only 4.3%.

WTH is a session pale ale - are there any unsessionable ones out there?

Tallgrass 16 Bit Double Pale Ale? I mean I can still drink all 4 in a "session" so I guess it depends on what "session" means. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yours is probably a rhetorical question, but I'll take it at face value anyway.
Some would define a session ale as under 4% and some would chose to define it as under 5%. In either case, at 5.6%, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is not a "session pale ale"... and most popular pale ales are not session ales. A barley wine is also an "unsessionable" pale ale.

It's not something that's going to knock your socks off, just a damn solid easy drinking pale. Well done Bell's. I wish the term 'session' would just disappear, it really upsets certain people

This completely passed under my radar until I saw it at my bottle shop today. I'm going to have to pick some up. Those are some of my favorite hops, and oats improve hoppy beers for me. Ever since I had Lagunitas Bitter Oats I've wanted oats in all of my hoppy ales. The creaminess of the mouthfeel does wonders to the overall drinking experience.
