Worth a try if it's in front of you , not worth chasing a truck kinda deal. I liked it, it's a very good big DIPA, but Hopsickle is as good.

I like being in the Carolinas, but boy do I miss CBC's DIPAs. Creeper was an old favorite.

Unfortunately, Oracle was a huge disappointment for me this year.

Picked a bottle up there yesterday (Waukesha DL). It was the only one sitting out, but that was the case last week as well so I'm guessing they have more in the back.

Yeah, me too. It was just too bitter to be world class, for me. I understand that I'm probably in the minority for that, but I was definitely a little underwhelmed by The Oracle.

Hopslam is said to be not bitter enough. Oracle is too bitter. Oracle is the west coast DIPA. Go hang in SD for a while, and you will recalibrate to the west coast style.

I was lucky enough to share in a somewhat in depth conversation with Larry regarding his DIPAs, it was interesting to hear his perspective and the target they were shooting for. Hopslam is all about delivering the intense hop flavor and doing so at almost absurdly low IBU levels for the style. Let the hop flavor shine and do not impede them. Oracle is very much a contrasting DIPA, Larry described it a few times as "one note" and that note would be bitter.

I see Hopslam as Bell's doing the DIPA the way the wanted, not the way it may be expected. Oracle, much like it predecessor Big Head, is a shot across the bow. It is a beer brewed with a message, it is a beer that says "it may not be our style but we can play the game just as well".

I love the contrasting styles of these beers, each satisfies very different aspect I appreciate in the style. They are not beers for everyone but Bell's shows their range with both.

$18.99 for a sixer?! I also paid $15.99 way out in AZ. Bell's usually expensive for you in your state?
