Bells should increase barrel program, like NOW

    Given the high demand for black note and personally having enjoyed their raspberry wild one as much as the best raspberry sours of the US, I think they need to get serious about expanding their barrel-aging program. Goose Island, Firestone Walker, New Belgium, Deschutes, are all doing major things in that department. Step it up Bells! Oh, and Founders this means you too.

    LOL, I can understand you want more great beer. I get it. I doubt they will do it Just for you. But you knew that.

    I have no criticism of Bell's. They are great and should keep doing what they do. Cherry Stout is back in stores and I killed one last night and, suffice to say, I have no complaints about this brewery.

    Also, that beer is criminally underrated on BA.

    Agreed more people need to complain to Bells and Founders both. I'd love to see Founders sacrifice Backwoods to make a cherry BA beer as a seasonal instead.

    Off topic, but they really need to brew This One Goes To 11 Ale again.. it would be shame if we never saw it again.. but yeah, I wouldn't mind more Black Note..

    What you really want is BB Expedition Stout.. It will make you forget all about Black Note.

    Why does everything have to be barrel aged? Personally, I'm starting to get a little tired of barrel aging; I'm pretty much over it for now.

    THIS JUST IN..

    After the Barrel program expansion was kicked off due to a BA Post, it as been subsequently scrapped hours later due advocates being over BA beers.

    Honestly, I used to like it, but not love it. But in the last 2 years, my opinion on sours has gone from a passive enjoyment to an obsession and that nice little tart that the Cherry Stout has is just right with the rest of the flavors in the brew. So I guess I love this beer now, haha.

    Also, am I the only one who thinks this Barrel aging thing is getting out of hand? I like it, but I'm starting to find myself enjoying the non barrel aged beers more.

    I never liked it really. But I have no say in it, other than not paying through the nose on every new fancy beer of the week. its funny wood used to be the only way they had to hold beer, and now they act like its worth more. lol
    crazy how history repeats over and over again. so many in the US think we invited craft beer or it started when WE did it, how funny is that.???

    I have a similar issue with Hill Farmstead. I still don't know why they haven't opened that second location in Brooklyn right by my apartment yet. I mean it's clear that I want it enough

    I think that you are correct about that. havent had BB Exp Stout, but that is the perfect base beer for a barrel.

    I have a suspicion that is in the pipeline. That was the clear winner for the Roll out the Barrel party - incredible stuff.

    Yeah, I mean, I'm cool with the fact that I'm seeing them so much. That way, I can always get them because they're just around more. But overall, I am very rarely in the mood for that boozy beer flavor. I love it, I just don't want it very often.

    Those were completed and full of water about 2.5 weeks ago.

    Cypress wood fermenters from Strohs. Probably will be lined with the modern equivalent of brewer's pitch.
