You said you're not surprised not everyone likes it, and say you don't believe anybody else likes it.

How are people's preference toward a beer in person on paper more reliable than their preference toward a beer shared through a computer screen? Not sure I'm following you. Either way, a majority of people seem to like Neptune.

The only one I think I didn't smell or taste at all was dandelion root ... mostly because I have no idea what the hell that would taste or smell like. I did get a lot of hickory though.

Yup. I should have specified the beers. Maybe Dark Penance should be lumped in with those. If it compares favorably, then I am excited to try it out. Appreciate your input.

    When Fresh:
    1. Mars
    2. Uranus
    3. Saturn
    4. Neptune
    5. Venus
    6. Jupiter
    7. Mercury
    Drank all last night:
    1. Uranus
    2. Saturn
    3. Neptune
    4. Venus
    5. Mars
    6. Jupiter
    7. Mercury
The obvious take away is that in a year Mars has not held up (duh). But what is not obvious is that Venus has gotten considerably better. I'd imagine if I waited another year Saturn, Neptune and Venus would all be vying for that top spot.

I think I need a new bottle opener. I opened a Neptune the other day and the cap got all scratched up. At least I have another bottle to open.

    Them caps. <3

Uranus was a delicious black DIPA, I headed back to the store for more. Wanted 6, ended up with 2. Damn bottle limits.

I use one of those dual purpose bottle opener/corkscrew. That doesn't sent or scratch the caps at all.

My wife took one of those big letters you get in a craft store, the letter W for our last name, and took different bottle caps and hot glued them on the letter. Looks pretty cool on my library shelf

    1. Mars
    2. Uranus
    3. Saturn
    4. Neptune
    5. Jupiter
    6. Mercury
    7. Venus

I would buy massive amounts of Mars if Bells brought it back
Also think it's time they added a year round DIPA

Without looking I think this is the same order as mine, except swapped Mercury and Venus. Mars, Uranus, and Saturn are especially awesome.

A lot of people bash the planet series as a whole but I think it was a definite success. The final 3 beers were great and Mars was pretty amazing.

ISO Venus, Mars, and Jupiter caps. Missed out on all of those...

How is Jupiter holding up lately? It sounds like something I'd really dig any I may try and seek out a bottle or two.

    My partial power ranking:
    1. Uranus (by a nose)
    2. Neptune (by a nose)
    3. Saturn
    4. Mercury

I can take a peek at my caps. I likely have extras of those three. In my re-rankings this week Jupiter is second to last but really it's tied for terrible with Mercury. I really liked Jupiter fresh but over the last 5 months it's really taken a hit. I feel like I was one of the only supporters of it fresh so I can't imagine that a whole hell of a lot of people would like it now. But, to each their own, you'll have to try for yourself.

Has anybody seen Neptune in Georgia yet?

I just wanted to make sure Mercury got a little love. It was my favorite out of the ones I had.

You know, I feel like I should take another crack at these "elite" beers, because I didn't think Uranus was up to par with my personal favorites, Sublimely Self Righteous and Wookey Jack. Or hell, even Boulevard's Grainstorm, for that matter. Initially, I thought that I might have had a bottle of Uranus that wasn't very fresh, but I drank mine on 7/1, a mere 36 days after bottling. I'm skeptical that it would have fallen off that quickly.

So a part of me wonders if my palate has changed and I'm simply not as big a fan of black IPAs as I used to be. Unfortunately, I can't really test my theory against my favorites, as SSR and Grainstorm are no longer being produced.

Ive tried them all as they come out.....the BBA Barleywine was the best by far I think....followed by the first 2 which were both DIPAs

I think each of these had pluses and minuses to them. Mars was a favorite. I actually enjoyed Venus because it was just something different that I had not had from Bell's before. Saturn was very good. Were any of them horrible, no. Could they have been better, sure. But overall, I was happy with them.

The beer that got the most respect from me was Mercury. Not so much from the beer, but the way Bell's handled their issue with the bottle recall. I thought their approach and quick response was excellent, let alone the way they made things right. Big kudos for that.

Anyone else have Uranus left? Drink it and post here what you think of it. Plz n thx.

I can't get over how much the beer morphed within just a couple months. It's still delicious, but it really tastes like a completely different beer.

Is Neptune more limited or something? I'm in Pittsburgh and have been able to get all of the other planets but the distributors here don't seem to be getting Neptune.
