Bell's - The Planets Series

Drink Neptune with a stick of beef jerky. I'm not even joking.

 

Anyone know if the General Store has any Planets left in stock?

 

The General Store was sold out when we were there last Saturday. Surprisingly, they had Big Porch Ale. I thought that they only sold that at Mackinac.

 

Neptune is delicious, I'm going to pick up every bottle I can find

 

Just got a couple bottles of neptune in from @amalburg. Thanks to this guy i had the privilege of drinking every planet series release.

 

i think I will join in the game of ranking this series, as I did manage to get everything fairly fresh.

6. Venus
7. Mercury

Honestly, I loved this series. The best five were awesome. But the worst two, Venus and Mercury, were really bad. Venus promised an interesting combination of flavors,but in execution it was a hot mess. Merucry was just awful no matter how you looked at it. Dull, with no Belgian flavors. The rest were quite nice.

 

I had one holdback Mars after 5 months...it was a shell of its former self. That shit is mind boggling when fresh. I hope bells adds this to their lineup

 

My ranking was

Uranus
Neptune
Mars
Jupiter
Mercury
Venus

 

I thought Mercury was a good take on a Belgian Pale Ale, such as Deconnick or Palm.

 

That's exactly what we found when we did the vertical tasting. Although we didn't expect anything different.

 

Drinking one now by itself, and can't help but think it would be great with smoked meats.

 

So, just finished off the series with Neptune. Interesting beer, thought the aroma was fantastic, but the flavor was too muddy with all the ingredients. Final ranking: Saturn>Uranus>Mars>Neptune>Mercury>Jupiter>Venus.

 

I recommend Dublinstore dot com. The morel and swiss beefsticks are friggin insane and the pit smoked jerky is second to none Michigan's finest IMO

 

Put a quarter on the cap before opening

 

I've been doing that. Doesn't seem to work, actually makes opening the bottles harder. I need a better opener.

 

I went on the site and made an order for those morel Swiss beef sticks, and some other stuff. Thanks for the tip!

 

I just tried Venus again for the first time since it's release. I enjoyed it much more that the first one I had. I am not sure if it has changed/mellowed or if I just had a new mindset going in. I am happy I have a few more in the fridge.

My brother in law picked it up in Kalamazoo mid last week. Lots of places had it.
