Not sure if its just me but I'm drinking the two hearted batch bottled on 11/4/2014. Batch 13634. Something tastes very off with this.... I love this beer and its a great go too. But there's an awful upfront bitterness and lack of flavor in this batch for some reason. Anyone else experiencing this?
You're now just experiencing this?? To back this up, I live out of the Bell's Distribution network. I went to KY, found a fresh Sixer. Bought it, drank one later that evening, it wasn't awful just not that beer so many people were telling me it was. So I pass on it when I go back to KY. That was about two years ago.
@ryanmextorf I love two hearted as well and think it is a great IPA. I had the same issue with a sixer bottled 10/23/14. It just really lacked flavor and didn't seem to have as much hop presence, not that it was undrinkable just off & not as top notch as usual. Been a couple months since I drank any, maybe my palate is off.
I agree with you on it not being that great. I was at Ei8ght Ball brewing in KY, which they had a single Centennial hopped IPA and it was on WTF status! I mean even the most hardcore WestCoast Hop head would've given a thumbs up to. It was just raw hop Aroma and Flavor with very light malt backbone. That beer alone was worth my trip to the Midwest. Two Hearted...meh.
Sounds like old IPA. The fresher you can get an IPA the better it will taste. One beer style that should NEVER be aged.
I got a sixer of the exact same batch. One of the bottles was off, but the other 4 I've had (still have 1 left) were fine. The bottle that was off had considerably less carbonation than the others.
Thanks for the replies everybody. It certainly was not a case of an old or outdated bottle here Zorro as I draft the first about two weeks after the bottle date. These should retain full flavor for at least a couple months. But I won't lose hope in two hearted ale. A bad batch happens to everybody. Unfortunately this was one of them. Cheers everybody.
