I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned much by local bloggers or the brewery itself, but BBC is planning a block party and special beer lineup for their anniversary on Feb 20th. They're doing some smaller stuff throughout the month, but the little bits I've heard about the party sound pretty cool. Ian's been saving up some special kegs like Salmonberry Sour, tweaking others like adding lacto to Lovely Cherry Baltic Porter, and collaborating with former BBC Brewer Tonya Cornett on Outback XX. My appreciation for BBC has grown by leaps and bounds since getting to see behind the curtain at last year's Zwickelmania, then getting to know Ian and Josh over the past year. These guys are making magic in a cramped, idiosyncratic brewhouse and fly well under the radar hype-wise. If you're anywhere near Bend that weekend, I highly recommend checking it out.
What's the start time for this (and how long does it run till)? I've been a big fan of BBC for years, and would love to make it up for this.
According to their FB, it starts at 5, and I assume it goes till they're shut down. Looking forward to see what they put on those 10 extra taps.
This event was a lot of fun! They had a huge tent in the closed-off street in front of the brewpub with 10 taps and a stage for the live music. In plastic 12 oz cups to accommodate the block party, but full pours for 3 bucks (everything, including barrel aged, sours, etc.). Full crowd from start to finish, a fantastic local event! Talked with Tonya (former BBC brewer) about another Sexi Mexi type collaboration with Sean Paxton. Crows Feet Commons a half block down happened to have the Helio Sequence playing a free show too.
