Well double black is a different beer altogether. So they take a keg of double black, throw in some coffee and vanilla and serve that..

"Infused" reads differently to me than aging it in the barrels with coffee and vanilla, which I assume was done with this beer we're seeing in bottles.

 

Same here...I'm stoked to try it again either way.

I would be surprised if they add the vanilla and coffee to the barrel at fill time. Likely added in the brite tank after barrel aging. If they were to add the coffee when the beer goes into the barrel then it would age out over 15 months. Not ideal in my opinion.

 

Completely agree. Personally not a fan of the old coffee grounds flavor of aged coffee beers. Adding fresh, cold press coffee at bottling/kegging gives the best, true coffee flavor. Indeed's latest long name queen beer on coffee is a great example of this. It has great coffee flavor the melds perfectly with the beer.

Everywhere I've called said they either didn't get any allocation or they already sold out. Was hoping to snag one bottle. bummer

Hit grand rapids today ~$24 after tax. Got 2 bottles and will likely crack one to determine if I want more.

Interesting. Must be getting hard wearing all the hats. Makes sense to bring someone in to help with that aspect.

 

I don't really know much about their operation, found it strange that as they were hitting full stride they were looking for a head brewer, Im assuming the current brewer does many things besides brew?

 

I swear I didn't read this before I had posted that. I just knew the brewer(s) were also the founders and owners. So figured they did a ton of other stuff. Didn't imagine they'd use the exact same phrasing I did. Ha.

Lord help us if they decide to collaborate with Indeed and blend this with their Derailed Imperial Double Dangerous Chocolate Whiskey Queen Milk Stout (BADSDBDIDDCWQMS).

Oh, and in case anyone is wondering, that blend acronym would earn you 40 points on a scrabble board!

 

I'm on the hunt for this but striking out so far. Tough bugger to find. If anyone can help a brother out I would trade handsomely. Black gold, Darkness (multiple years), or Barrell aged silhouette. Let me know I'd be in your debt...
