Bent Paddle - BADSDB

Apparently they were last years glasses and they didn't make any again for this year.

 

So, who cracked a bottle and whats the verdict?

 

It was wonderful from the tap.

 

anyone know what it was soo limited at the brewery? seems like they would have had more than 250 bottles available. is it because of major distribution?

 

I'm wondering if anyone has a sense of total bottle count?

My thoughts were that this would see plenty of distro, but now that Bent Paddle has expanded to accounts, I'm wondering if not all stores that carry them will get some of this.

 

kind of assumed it was similar to last years bottle count. and yes, i know they are two different beasts. i know last year they had few accounts and were new to the market. seemed like last year double black sat around for maybe three months at the brewery. maybe cause they were still new to the market? wondering if they had so few this year because of the expanded footprint which means more hitting the market versus last year.

 

I had it on tap at the brewery yesterday and I agree that it is really good. Smooth espresso flavor, vanilla and pronounced barrel character. It'd be worth hunting down a bottle or two in distro if you can!

 

This topic has been covered on here before and other areas. Waxing does nothing for aging, bottling, beer, etc just looks. But if done right no issues result but a fancy PIA bottle to open

I took part in a vertical of smoke with the same years mine were bad and all were great so like beer shit happens.

 

It lowers the probability of oxidation as a result of a poor seal. And it makes it a pain in the ass to open.

 

Especially Bent Paddle's wax jobs. I bet if they used less wax on their bottles, they could charge a dollar or two less per bottle!

 

It's all part of the experience. If it was easy to open you wouldn't enjoy it as much.

 

Tell that to the people who have lots fingers (or worse) while trying to open their bottles!

Think about the fingers man!
