I'm guessing that's because the Winterfest version had Madagascar vanilla and was on nitro. I'm not a coffee fan by any means but love what I like to call the three-line-name version --> Nitro Cold Press Black with Whole Bean Madagascar Vanilla (three lines coming from how much space it took up on their tap room sign last year).

Picked up the last 6-pack of Cold Press at Firkins Oakdale yesterday. Plan on enjoying a couple during SNF and have high expectations based on what I have experienced multiple times at the taproom in Duluth. Those pours in my opinion were every bit the equal of Coffee Bender.

I think there was a small run of bottles with the vanilla that was released last year in Duluth. I also think it lasted on the store shelves as long as as Darkness or BCBS does.

Damn, would like to see them get into the south metro somewhere. Blue Max seems like a logical place for them to be available.

Had my first cold press yesterday. I love this beer. I wish it had just a tad more coffee to it, but the body, mouth feel, and malts are just awesome. So smooth, not bitter, just wonderful. Although I wish it were $14/6 pack instead of $11/4 pack, but bent paddle is growing and generally very good, so Ill give them the benefit of the profit for now.

did a blind tasting with the wife last night between cold press and coffee bender. bender was the clear favorite in almost every respect.

Did this yesterday myself ( not blind) and mine was the other way around, However, it is worth noting that Coffee Bender is a Brown ale, where as Cold Press is a Black ale (actually, a stout according to this site). Apples/Oranges... anyhow

I'm right and you are wrong... that's how these forums work , right ?

Thanks, I was wondering what beer they aged. Looks to be the regular black ale. Hopefully they release the Vanilla Cold Pressed again in bottles before Xmas.

I'd assume this was a previously unreleased "double version" of Black that they brewed specifically for this treatment. Regular Black is around 6% and the label above states 10.4%

Super excited to try the Double Black like everyone else! I just had the Cold Press Black for the first time and it was Awesome! Does anyone know if this is still on shelves, and if not when it will be released again?
