Tomorrow is the big day - Barrel Aged Double Black bottles will be available! Special Taproom Hours tomorrow from 4 - 7p (Limit 2 bottles per person). Bottles can also be found in liquor stores in Duluth, the Twin Cities on Tues & Wed and Superior on Wed.

Double Shot or Double Black?

 

North Loop, Lake Wine & Spirits and Zipps all posted for Double Black within the last couple of hours.
I imagine it won't be too difficult to obtain.

 

I saw one of the places say a 2 bottle limit too. So that also leads me to believe it won't be too hard to get.

Do you know if your local spot is getting it today or tomorrow?

 

Ouch, Zipps is gone already.

 

North Loop has 4 cases left at $22.99/each.

 

I guess I thought they were the same thing, but I see now that it's Double Black on the bottle. Maybe it was Double Shot at ABR?

Just passing along info as I see it, for anyone looking.

 

You would be proud, I called... It didn't go well. Took forever to explain what I was looking for and then waited on hold for about 10 minutes before I hung up.

This is why I don't call.

If you like Bourbon, you're going to love this. No way this is only 10.4%. Just give yourself an extra hour to get through the wax.

 

So is $22.99 the going rate or is that high?

 

The program for ABR listed the beer at "Double Shot Double Black".

"This double strength version of our black ale has double the cold press and double the vanilla. Aged in bourbon barrels for 6 months".

The beer in bottles just says double Black Ale and makes no mention of cold press coffee or vanilla. Appears to be a double version of their regular Black Ale (not the Cold Press Black Ale) and then bourbon barrel aged for 6 months.

 

Aww rats, I was hoping it was the same thing as at ABR. I'm sure it'll still be good though.

 

I wouldn't let that discourage you from calling stores.
I have about a 90% success ratio of at least finding a knowledgeable person on the other end of the line in a timely fashion.
But maybe I'm just lucky.

Should be $20 at most places. I passed on North Loop.
