I'm looking for additional places to check out in Bergen County. So far, Ramsey Liquours and Fairlawn Bottleking are on my regular list. I need to get to Queen Anne Liquors in Teaneck more often. Any other recommendations?
Bottle King Ramsey gets just as many of the limited releases as Ramsey Liquors. Rutherford Wine Shoppe is the OG of craft beer in southern bergen and still gets some nice stuff. B&B in fair lawn. total wine river edge. whole foods paramus is overpriced and generally doesn't put limited stuff out right away but the selection is nice. heights beer and wine in hasbrouck heights sucks donkey bigtime but it orders everything and sells barely anything so some mid-range craft specialties probably sit around long there. wouldn't expect any whales but prob some nice stuff still on the shelves. shop rite liquors in emerson is run by a friend and he told me just saturday that he has parabola still on the shelf so nuff said there. stew leonards paramus gets nice stuff sometimes. helps to become a regular at a few of these as with the special releases they may not put them out on the floor and may take waiting lists so its good to be friendly with the beer guy.
Last time I was in Queen Anne, like October, they had a bunch of Firestone Walkers and a whole lot of beers you don't normally see. The downside is that a lot of the stuff on the shelves looked dusty and old, and the prices weren't so great. Still worth a look if you are in the area, though. WF Paramus does tend to be on the short list with Hunterdon in this area, so it's worth considering them for special releases. benz08- I stopped by Shop Rite in Emerson and I like what your buddy is doing. It's not quite there yet, but they deserve our support in the hopes that they get better. I'd choose them over the place next to Trader Joe's in Westwood easily. I do think that a few towns over the Bottle King in Hillsdale has a better selection of bombers, though.
I live in Ramsey so Ramsey Liquors is what I hit most of the time on the way home. I also like Stew Leonards in Paramus. They have a different distrubitor than Ramsey so you can find different things there. Another place that is new is Growler and Gill in Nanuet (I know not Bergen), but they have a real good selection that is growing. They just opened in Oct and they only do craft beer. Also, helps that they have 16 taps so you can drink a pint while you shop.
