    I really appreciate all the advice here. Unfortunately, we just never found the time to visit any one certain place. Just too busy being a tourist! But I did find a bottle shop just around the corner from our apartment and selected a few other brews to try. I even bought a couple Potsdammer Stange's and I really enjoyed that despite my strong disposition against Pils. We tried some other Hefe's and dunkels, and an ABT beer, but none compared to the Stange. I'll be on the lookout for that more often!

    Weird, living there I was frequently struck by how rarely this was the case. Occasionally you'd waltz into a place on a Saturday night and they'd tell you they didn't have anything (which often meant there was more than a ten minute wait, they don't really do waiting lists here, for the most part, at least not like in the US).

    Perhaps it's a neighborhood thing? Where you mostly in mitte?

    maybe it was a neighborhood thing, cause yes I was in Mitte where this mostly happened. Other places not as bad though, and never when I went out for doner or Turkish food.
