Does anyone have any suggestions for good Berliner Weisse style beers that can be found in Michigan? I'm extremely interested in trying more of them. I'm not opposed to making a decent effort to get my hands on some, but don't really want to start on a life-sucking scavenger hunt for something I'm unlikely to find in MI. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Well, Griffin's Claw in Birmingham will have a Berlinerweisse on tap when they open next week. That's the only one I know of in the area.

Not made in MI, but DFH Festina Peche is pretty good and easy to find.

Take a quick road trip around the horn to illinois/WI and pick up bruery, Pipeworks, New Glarus. If yr goin to the fest in ipsy might be able to fix you up with some, but you'll have to get rid of that green hat. GO BLUE!.

I like this beer a lot but I struggle with calling it a Berliner. Sure there are undeniable similarities but Oarsmen never really satisfies my desire for a Berlinerweisse.

Yeah they started with a Berliner as the idea they went their own way with it. I like the beer but I do agree that is doesn't really satisfy that want. 1809 is good and readily available in most of Michigan. There aren't really that many options, I'm always looking for another imported (and cheaper) option, but none have arisen yet.

I've been on a bit of a Berliner mission as of late and I am struggling to find anything as good as 1809. Deesko, Hottenroth, New Glarus Thumbprint are good but cost more and are not as good as the 1809 which is always readily available. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Although not technically a Berliner Weisse, Brewery Ferment in Traverse City brews a Wit that includes an (18 hour) sour mash. This beer has a subtle tartness to it that makes it very sessionable. Not as tart as Westbrook's Weise Weise Baby, the last Weisse we had but still enjoyable.

Do you have the 1809 in the store? I have looked around and haven't seen it. Would love to get some bottles for the rest of the summer.
