Its gdamn 108 degrees today, and I want a 4/6 pack of Berliner Weisse.

Why is there no such thing produced or distributed on the West Coast? Is this such a small niche market that the only profitable examples are single bottle imports (that cost $6+ a piece) and 750's Hottenroth out here?

You guys in the Midwest are so lucky to have Oarsmen. I'd go through a case of that in July, easy.

Sierra Nevada & Stone seem to have a good presence on this site, make great products, distribution, bold innovators etc. . .

Oarsman is damn near perfect in this weather. Sorry you cannot get any. Really, I am.

Hopefully Golden Road will can theirs. I wish Bear Republic would bottle Tartare...

I 100% agree with this and have been saying this for years. I personally was slacking and didn't get my berliner weisse brewed this year, but this Friday I am bottling a low ABV belgian pale with brett which should be very refreshing.

I think it would be difficult to get West Coast beer drinkers to pay craft prices for a style that may only be around 2-4% ABV on a large scale.

I agree it's a perfect beer for this time of year (or, well, anytime of year considering it's only 68 here in Santa Monica today), but for a lower ABV, slightly sour style, you'd have to build the market from scratch to an extent, rather than just easily tap into an existing one like you could by releasing another IIPA.

That sort of eliminates the cheap and easily available parts of the equation, especially if you want to keep it around in your regular rotation.

Along with a berliner weisse, I wish we had a good milk stout or two available in six packs...it's a severely underrepresented style on the West Coast. Every once in a while I'll see Sam Adams' Cream Stout, but even that doesn't seem to get much love out here.

High Water has one, Berliner Reisse, and it rocks.

They have been bottling a lot of new product, maybe this one will sneak into their rotation.

Buy a "6 pack" of them and we'll sell them for less than $6 a piece -- :grinning:

Enjoyed this one at Sour Fest. Would love to see it in bottles.

I think the non-brett version of the Gasthaus Berliner is more like $4 per bottle. The brett one, which is a million times more delicious, is $6.

True, but in very limited supply, in very limited places on the west coast. . .I'll put it this way, it ain't at Total Wine in Reno.

I'm saying why hasn't someone on the west coast made the jump to bottle/can a 4 or 6 pack. . .I think there's enough of a niche in the western states to support someone like SN, Stone, Deschutes, Redhook, Widmer, Bear Republic etc. . . to produce such a beer and keep it on shelves during the summer. Whoever did would be the only game in town so to speak.

I need to get another bottle of that just to see if the one I bought was really how it was supposed to taste.

Hopefully High Water bottles that beer at some point.
