    What are the best back-to-back
beers you have ever had together?

Yesterday had a Kane Head High
and Morning Bell. Both world class.

Also about a week ago I had an Ithaca
Creeker and a Great Lakes Chillwave.
    A great DIPA pairing.

    Both were memorable experiences.

    Your 1-2 punch?

Prairie Pirate Bomb and Abyss 2015. Last Easter, my son was visiting so I thought it would be an opportunity to split a couple of potent cult beers. He sipped a bit of the Pirate, then decided BA stouts are not his thing, so I had to "suffer" through drinking them myself. Needless to say it made Easter interesting. These are now two of my favorite beers.

Kolsch then Pilsner, light and delicate then increased flavor and bitterness. That works for me.

The local dive bar usually has 10-12 better than average craft beers on tap at any given time.
Last Friday after work I had a Backwoods Bastard and chased it down with a Curmudgeon.
Several weeks earlier I was fortunate enough to have a Bells World Wide Stout and followed that with a Lagunitas High-Westified. That was a potent one-stop punch.

I recently had a Allagash Avance then followed it up with a Weyerbacher Sunday Morning Stout. It was nice to contrast the very different beers but both aged in bourbon barrels and hit that sweet spot for a perfect buzz.

Back-to-back would probably be Focal Banger, followed by Heady Topper. Cheers.

Drinking s real nice 1-2 right now. Started with a 3 month old Weihenstephaner Origional, and followed that with a 3 month old Pils Urquell. I'm in agreement looking back at past posts about the PU, it's outstanding and most versions just kinda hop it up a bit. This beer is a bit deeper than just hoping it up a bit, the balance is outstanding if not subtle.

Off the top of my head:

Pliny the Elder & Heady Topper
    Julius & Congress Street IPA
    Pliny the Younger & Beatification
    BCBS Coffee & Black Tuesday
The Abyss & OG BCBS RARE

Too many to count after all these years, but the above were memorable for sure.

At the brewery I've had, Cantillon Gueuze, Kriek, RDG, FF, LPF, Zwanze '15 Wild Brussels Stout all back to back then Faro on cask at Moeder Lambic. That was a good afternoon.

My favourite 1-2 combo though is a BSPA or Tripel followed by a big imperial stout. Subtle and delicate complexity followed by a complete change of pace, flavour, texture, intensity.

De Dolle Stille Nacht & AleSmith Hammerhead Speedway

Tripel Van De Garre & Black Albert

As an everyday option a Duvel & FBS takes some beating.

I love drinking two very different beers in a row. Sometimes they really highlight each other.

Recently, Weldwerks Juicy Bits followed by Lindeman's Peche was a great combo. Both very fruity, but Juicy Bits being driven by hops and Peche being driven by tartness.

Last fall I was on my porch on a cool night after working a 4-12 shift and had a alaskan smoked porter followed by a schlenkerla dopplebock and was in senses heaven with the fall air and smokey beer.

Considering the overall experience it has to be Keene Idea And Nelson from Alpine when it was Alpine. I still remember sitting on the patio on a perfect spring evening drinking them. Ahhhh, soooo good!

One I recently had was a comparison of Founders Backwoods Bastard and Central Waters Bourbon Barrel Scotch Ale. Two excellent renditions of a Bourbon Barrel Scotch Ale, both excellent, and too close to call.

When I read the thread title "best 1-2 punch" I was thinking Sierra Nevada and a shot of Maker's...I've been known to enjoy this at tailgates...

Probably either an Orval followed by a Rochefort 10 overlooking the rainy cobblestone street in Ghent, or a side by side of St Bernardus 12 and Westvleteren 12 in the beautiful sitting room at the St Bernardus Brouwershuis.

Next up to try is Judgment Day and Cuvee de Tomme as I really enjoyed it.
