Here in North Florida the Oktoberfests have been slow to hit the shelves (notably no Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest yet). The season is early yet, lot's of Hacker-Pschorr Amber Märzen though, tasty as always. I am also very pleased with this years Left Hand Oktoberfest however, best in recent years I feel.

Sierra Nevada is really good this year, Sam Adams not so much.

I've been watching for that Uintas Fest Helles, heard good things about it. We get most of their line up so I'm hoping. Good brewery!

I used to buy Sam Adams by the case years ago, it was always the very first Octoberfest style beer to get here. I don't know if it's not as good or if my tastes have changed but beyond a token six pack occasionally I seldom get it any more.

I enjoyed the SN one at first but the more I drank it the less I liked it. SA is now horrible to me, can barely finish it anymore. Stoudt's is good and on deck next will be Sly Fox's and Great Lakes'.

Has anyone had Fat Head's? I will give that a go too at some point.

I am very fond of Victory's Fest bier this year. Still have a lot more oktoberfests to sample though. A wonderful problem indeed.

I've enjoyed many SA Oktoberfest beers every season. Sorry to hear some disappointment but I will try it.

Sam Adams Oktoberfest is the beer that got me into craft. I still enjoy it very much.

The Ayinger I had recently is as good as ever. Definitely my favorite of the style.

Oh yeah forgot about Festbier, had that on draft already and enjoyed it.

For the record I am a big Lager and Oktoberfest fan and enjoy all of the taste testing.

I had it on draught this morning. I am pleased with it.
The Goose Island Fest Bier on the other hand, doesn't tickle my taste buds.

Each season I try most of the imports both in the bottle and on tap, a handful of American Oktoberfests that aren't bad based on track record, and then some random as thrown in.

So far I've had about 7 different Oktoberfests...

The clear winner for the pale Oktoberfest style is Weihenstephan.

The clear winner for the amber style is Spaten.

These two typically rank highly for me each season, I've only had one bottle of Spaten though and it wasn't on a fresh palate. Can't wait to crack the second. If you want to understand the term "liquid bread", grab the Spaten Oktoberfest.

And the Weihstephan is insanely drinkable. Side by side with Spaten is a great way to understand the best Pils and Munich malt can offer.

This was the best part of your post. Very traditional too, since in Munich at Oktoberfest you better have your ass in a seat around 9:30/10 am if you don't have a reservation.

Victory is always one of my staple Fest Biers every year. Glad to hear it is looking good this year too! (It has not arrived here yet either)

Couldn't agree more if I had written the reply myself.

HB and Paulaner Wies'n Fests (the pale) are very good runners up, as are Paulaner and Hacker-Pschorr Amber Märzens -- but they always are.

Not sure about this year's Ayinger -- the two .5 liter bottles I had were fraught with diacetyl, as was the sample draft taster I had at a local.

OTOH -- the Spaten Amber Märzen vom Faß was wünderbar (AB-InBev? Really?).

I will have to pick these up tomorrow, there are currently more German biers available in these categories here than American!

Fest Helles? Do they not understand that Wies'n Fest is only Helles-like in color, or are they attempting some new marketing ploy?

BTW -- I've only seen Uintas IPAs in my area.
