The two of us are usually in our own little echo chamber.

Well I see I have been slow returning to this post (that's life getting in the way for you!). The same day I started this thread lamenting the lack of Sierra Nevada's Oktoberfest it finally started showing up and I have since enjoyed many 12-packs of it. Very good beer but I have to admit I liked last years offering better. Still hate to see it disappear. (When Celebration arrives, any day now I hope, I will be greatly mollified!)

I will say this has been the sparsest Oktoberfest season I have ever experienced here in the deep South. Victory Festbier is usually plentiful but it didn't even make it here. Sadly Paulaner never made it here either but that has been the case for several years now but I keep hoping it will return.

Capital and Lakefront were very good. I didn't try the Lazy Monk or Title Town.

Surly Fest was by far the worst domestic Ofest I consumed. Actually, I drain poured it was so bad. The Darkness I picked up today should make up for it

Still have a few left to try, but it's still SN by two lengths down the stretch.

Grabbed one of the last local 12-packs of the 17 SN Okto -- Bottled in August. Interesting to taste how the hops have fallen off and, overall, the beer is oxidizing to a slightly cardboard character, though the true maltiness is still apparent. There's also a light sour, almost pickel-like aroma in the nose.

I have to admit that you were on to something here and the more I drank it the less I liked it...it took me a while to work my way through the sixer and I ended up dumping most of the last one when I got there.

Picked up a six of Spaten last weekend, best by 7/2018. Had the first bottle last night to usher out October. I have to say, I think it's better than this year's Ayinger (or what I assumed was this year's ), which had been my favorite the past few years. I'll have to do a head to head this weekend to make sure it's not all in my head.
Paulaner weis'n has been my favorite pale Okto. But then the only competitor to pass my lips has been Sierra Nevada's, so that's probably not saying much.
