I really enjoyed Victory's 12, and I also really like Ommgang's Three Philosophers.

The winner for highly available, American quad is surely Sixth Glass. This is my favorite beer ever to bring on a picnic or date. It's portable, very agreeable to most palettes, and highly effective.

Other quads from New England that are recommended:

Baby Tree by Pretty Things: Very quaffable, but rich and mysterious. Still tastes like plums, even though they say it's been removed from the recipe. Amazing from the bottle or on draft.

Gravitation: A mighty quad from Smuttynose. I was fortunate enough to try three different vintages at Amherst Brewing Company a few years ago.

I am planning on a quad tasting. I think I am going to call it Beer Wars: The Quads Strike Back. Here is what I have lined up so far.

    American Grudge
    Stickee Monkee

What I think I can add:
    Boulevard Bourbon Quad

What I would like to add that I may have a hard time finding:
    Lost Abbey Track 8

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Odyssey from Allagash. That's probably my top American Quad along with Three Philosophers.

Sixth Glass and Three Philosophers for a true American quad. Love Stickee Monkey although it is not true to the style.

My favorite local is Hardywood Bourbon Barrel Cru.

And none of these stands up to the authentic, my favorite being Westy 12

Stickee MOnkee is not a Quad. It's a Central Coast Quad. Think Belgian Blonde Ale versus American Blonde ale. Similar but different styles. I understand that this confuses some people. Such is life when making up newer styles...

It means someone has to win but they can't compete with the other divisions and mostly suck and will never make the Super Bowl.

Can we stop with the heavily fruited or barrel-altered American Three Philosophers, Not the Stoic, BBQ...? I will say that Three Philosophers is the beer that got me into craft, and my trip to Ommegang was the best I've ever done, for many many reasons. But these do not conform to the style of straight-up "Quad" and are not comparable. That's like comparing Rubaeus to a pale ale, or Black Note to Expedition. Not at all the same.
