nah, truth is I don't care for styles. If you know our beers you know we try to live "off the beaten craft." With our beers I find when they get called a style it confuses people and hurts the perception of the beer (BDG is just meant to be a food friendly beer which people get, call it a brown or whatever people call it and it gets critiqued for what it's not rather than what it is.) Like I said above i don't really think "Session IPA" conveys what Boat is. "Session IPA" connotes a smaller IPA, boat's too yellow, to crisp, too linear for that descriptor. I like to call it "Boat" and have people taste it. it works for some not others it isn't a Kolsch, it isn't, a pale, its just a super hoppy session beer for double IPA drinkers.

Here I will take the second to point out we make a bunch of beers under 4.5% ABV I don't identify as session beers, by session I hope people think "interesting and complex enough to merit a bunch in a row," not just low alcohol. Things like MCTW and Digger are meant for 1 or 2 and the low ABV is there because we are looking for a thinner mouth feel. Boat and Milk are meant for BSing over a couple hours

Widely available? For New England I like Smuttynose bouncy house and Notch, left of the dial ipa.

Founders All Day IPA is a refreshing session that I like to use as a change up from the higher alcohol percentage or darker beers.

Love them or hate them Session beers are a thing and I actually love them if they are well crafted enough for what my taste buds prefer. They also fit well in what I can handle in the very rare times I have more than one or two beers in a night. So as someone who has tried something like ten of them as they've come out this year I'm curious which ones you folks have come to hold in high regard. I was actually set to crown Stone's Go To as my king of these next to former ruler All Day IPA, but by the third of Blue Point's Mosaic Session I had that started to win me over a lot. I've been out of the loop on beer for like a month too, so it'd be nice to see what people are feeling about these now that we've been inundated with them. What say you?

Founders All Day, Lagunitas Daytime, Fat Heads Sunshine Daydream, Stone Go-To, and Shorts Prolonged Enjoyment all pretty much top the session IPA list for me. Shorts just dropped PE in 12 packs so that is going to be hitting my fridge very soon. I havent seen Daytime in like 2 years though, but I hope that the Chi town addition means that we get more in MI soon.

I didn't know those guys put out one as well. TD makes bunches of stuff I like. I'll have to add that to the list.

The Imperial American Adjunct IPA will also be something to sip in amazement. I'm thinking something like Olde English 800 (or One Thousand) brewed with midwestern ditch weed and organic corn syrup.

Now here's a question..... With this new wave, which is greater, the number of session IPAS, or new threads about them?

My favorite is Founders All Day, but Pop Up from Boulevard is a close second. stone to go is okay, but it feels less rounded out than the other two.
