I tried a vertical with a few top rated stouts. KBS, BCBS, Black Tuesday & Parabola. They all have a certain something special about them and just when you think one taste better than the other, it seems as though you suffer from palate overload being that the beers are so big and complex. I always find myself gravitating back to the first one I tried BCBS.

    So you say BCBS?

Whose to say you are wrong? All are good, but I put KBS a bit further down on the list.

    Cheers!

I like many, but I've never been a fan of Parabola. The best one I've had is Narke Kaggen! Stormaktsporter, but if you're looking for something a bit easier to get I'd say Mikkeller Beer Geek Brunch Weasel Cognac is right up there with the best.

Struise Cuvee Delphine is a great barrel aged beer. Great balance between base beer and barrel.

You cannot go wrong choosing BCBS. Plain and simple, it is the benchmark by which all other barrel aged stouts are measured. A few may compare, but I don't know that any would surpass. I just drank the Coffee variant a couple of nights ago and it was tremendous.

BCBCS would probably be my favorite Imperial Stout if the mouthfeel/carbonation was creamier.

BCBS is definitely a benchmark. It is perfectly engineered, just consistently delicious and has everything you need in a ball busting BA stout. It's the kind of stout that you never forget. Sure, there is definitely other amazing BA stouts, but BCBS just hits on all levels of quality and enjoyment when it comes to a barrel aged stout.

I'd add Uncle Jacob's & Black Albert to this discussion.
Surprised they haven't been mentioned yet.

Good stuff locally. Seemingly every other brewery is doing them but I find the barrel aged versions of Suge Knight, Super Nebula, and Jaywalker are outclassing everybody else. It' nice to have options.

Three of us had a blind tasting last weekend with: Black Tuesday, 11 BCBS, CBS, and H24-Pugachev's Cobra. They were all pretty easy to pick out. BT and H24-PC were the hardest to distinguish between. Black Tuesday was the all around favorite with Puagachev's Cobra coming in 2cnd, BCBS at 3rd, and CBS a distant last. Think BCBS would have faired alot better had it been an 08. Vanilla BCBS is also delicious. Definitely a top contender for best BA stout.

How about Epic Big Bad Baptist, very tasty. I had to add this one because it is about the only one I can get locally. Utah distrobution sucks.

Do you know what barrels they used for this last batch of Remy? I thought it was good, but a little rough around the edges. Really looking foward to trying this with Pappy barrels.
