New Holland may not have the best BA brews in MI, but they definitely have among the most efficient programs in the country. How many other breweries have access to their own barrels for aging (and then turn around and make another bourbon out of the beer (originally bourbon) barrels?

It is definitely a program depending on the brewery. It requires a lot of extra time and skill that most breweries don't have. Look into Firestone's BA beers and tell me it's not a program they are running.

Not if near no one gets to taste them IMHO. Far more brewers propagating great barrel aged beers far & and wide in this great land....
None of those make it SW MO besides Boulevard, Schlafllys & Mothers. Of those 3, Boulevard still wins..

Will state the Obvious for Oklahoma: Prairie. Having said that, Coop Ale Works, Marshall & Kreb all have produced very nice beers of this ilk, with more brewers stepping up!

To be honest...I don't think anyone has released a barrel aged beer here yet. If anyone has it would be Laughing Sun, but I don't think they've done one yet

Over Cascade; really? Sure we're comparing apples to oranges with strong ales to sour (strong) ales. I guess we could call it a tie since they are located on the same street...

I'm in no way discrediting the time, effort, skill, and knowledge it takes to produce quality barrel aged beers. I just hate how they differentiate it by calling it a "program."

    1) Not on the same street (yamhill vs belmont) but they are close to one another
    2) As I stated before I wouldn't put HoTD as the top in Portland, let alone Oregon

    cheers

If you shopped online you'd be able to taste every single one of their reserve beers. Barrelworks is going to start bottling eventually and should one day (soon enough) be as available as the others. Only reason Goose got so much Bourbon County was thanks to InBev. (Someone else was arguing the Goose)

Well, sure seemed like the same street to me last visit...however, I did have more than my fair share at Cascade.

Between getting into an argument with Alan's sister at the brewery (yeah I was a little drunk, but damn was she sassy with me) and the BS email response I got from him about a couple of his BA beers being infected/flat, I'm over them. No biggie, there's not enough time to drink everything, these situations just help me make it easier to narrow down my spending/drinking.

These++. There really aren't many MN breweries that are doing significant barrel aging, so it's not a difficult win. That being said, it's not like no other breweries barrel age; Surly of course does some and most of the anniversary beers are barrel aged of some sort. Steel Toe has done a bit, and Indeed is stepping up their game with barrel aging as well. It's fun to watch (and taste), regardless.

I had BA wake n bake at the Porter last Friday. Wasn't blown away--the bourbon didn't really come through.
