We are heading out to San Francisco next weekend for my birthday. The wife and a few of our friends want to take me to a bunch of different "beer" bars. Besides Toranado, what others are a must? Doesn't matter where they are, we are staying with our friend in Bayview.

Really? Thirsty Bear? Really? Even the Whole Foods in Potrero Hill is better!

Zeitgeist, Magnolia, Mikkeller, Monk's Kettle, La Trappe...

And seriously, the tap room at the Whole Foods is pretty good!

Also, if you're going to Toronado make sure you check out Mad Dog in the Fog. I hear they have BCBS on tap.

Totally agree. Almost directly across the street from Toronado. Nice small patio in the back and their bottle selection is righteous. And a pool table. Rack em up!

I don't get Beer Rev. Every time I've been in there I've felt like I paid too much for ICE ICE ICE cold beer. They even brag about serving at 36F on their website. Had to hug SKUs Me for like half an hour before it tasted like anything other than cold.

Mad Dog is hilarious because they didn't expand their beer until a few years ago and the English bartenders are generally clueless about craft beer.

BeerByBART.com is also useful for an overview of 50+ great places to find craft beer in the SF Bay Area.

Mikkeller is definitely a must-see, and they have great food too!
