Some of you already helped me plan out my trip to Minneapolis this weekend but I wanted to throw one last post out prior to heading up. Where can I find the most divers selection of surly beers. I saw there was a Darkness thread and it sounds like it won't be on tap this weekend anywhere. I know most places have Furious or Bender on but I was hoping to try some of the "tap-only" selections that are listed on the site. Thanks to anyone who might know or have some insight.
probably your best bet is to watch Surly's facebook or twitter, but Muddy Waters in uptown always has a bunch of surly on tap, though sometimes they are just the basics, you probably will come across abrasive on tap, which is amazing. I feel like I was just reading that some special surly was on tap somewhere, but I don't recall where.
Last week The Republic had around 7 Taps of Surly not sure now what is left of the 7 Give them a call to see b4 heading there
I would second Muddy Waters and getting Abrasvie on tap - a fresh pint is arguably the best beer man kind has created. It would be worth it to tweet @surlybrewing or @surlybrewer; they are pretty responsive and might point you in the right direction as they supposedly are "in the know" :-). Brett Liquor is also really good and unique so if that's on tap at Grumpy's, it'd be worth a stop. Also, if the Republic (7 corners) so an expanded selection from the standard 4 taps, it is worth your time and money to stop there, but I think I rememeber that previously being recommended to you. I want to point out that not enough places have Bender. Every bar across the state seems to have Furious but no damn Bender, and I think it's an outrage.
As mentioned above Republic (7 Corners), as of Sunday had Darkness (getting low and prolly long gone by now), Damien, Abrasive and Brett liquor. Doubt any of those will make it to the wknd tho.
