I had "A Deal with the Devil" tonight, and it's incredibly boozy. I love it, and it reminds me a lot of Samichlaus and Black Fist. The high ABV beers seem to be more common these days. Some of my favorites include the Bruery series (e.g. Grey Monday), most of the Avery series (e.g. Uncle Jacob's), and Pugachev's Cobra. What are some of your favorites up in the 17% to 18% range?

Uncle Jacobs is the biggest beer I've had, love it too.

World Wide Stout. Have had several bottles over the past couple of years. Consistently excellent.

Totally agree....both uncle jacobs and tweak are big, boozy, delicious, and you have to plan your night around them

Based on my ratings, A Deal With The Devil is #1. I actually found it surprisingly balanced (relatively speaking), considering it was 17%. #2 on my list is Black Tuesday, #3 is Fruet.

Haven't had too beers in that range. (Hell, there really isn't that many). But the only one that stuck out as being fantastic to me was Avery Mephistopheles.

Bruery makes the best big beers in my eyes, but only cause BCBS isn't over 15% most years.

I've had Uncle Jacobs and Pugachev's Cobra, both are really good, I have a few in the cellar and looking forward to tasting both in a few years. They are both really hot but I really enjoyed Pugachev's Cobra.

Black Tuesday is good, but well well over-rated IMHO. Just one man's opinion.

Top 3 over 15% for me are Tweak, Chocolate Rain and Sucre. All very different and very excellent. Gotta try that Deal

I always find that nice big beer episodes are shared with good friends. Such big beers are like port, and for the end of the night.

Uncle Jacobs is good but in all honesty, I think Tweak is so much tastier. A lot of love for uncle Jacobs here, maybe I'm the only one...

I really enjoyed DFH Fort. But I'd say the one I've enjoyed the most often has been DFH World Wide Stout.

I came here to say exactly this, brilliant beer. A lot of reviews I read said there was too much heat on theirs, but the few I had were spot on.

It's unbelievable that people can't read the title of the thread. BCBS is not greater than 15%.

Uncle Jacob's Stout and Mephistopholes are my favorite. I've never had tweak but I assume it's fucking amazing.

DFH 120 is the best hoppy beer over 15% IMO.

I only had two beer over 15% abv. One was Mephistopheles, the other some eisbock from a brewpub/restaurant in Minneapolis (16% abv).

Uncle Jacobs Stout really deserves all credit it's receiving from the above comments, absolutely one of my favorites. Avery does so well in their barrel aged series, Tweak is amazing and totally addicting for coffee lovers, Black Eye is awesome and 120 min!

A Deal with the Devil is the only one I've tried, and out of all the beers I've reviewed on this site, it got my highest rating.

I don't have access to anything else above 15% ABV here except for Bruery Bois and Sucre, and ADWTD is the cheapest (yet still ridiculously expensive) of them, so that's the one I've indulged in. It was worth it!

Loved Black Tuesday with 2 years on it. Ive had atleast half a dozen others with less than a years age on them and found them all to be too hot to fully enjoy the other flavors. I think 12-14% is the sweet spot for me to really enjoy something thats less than a year old.
