    Hey there folks, quick question.

Just had a friend move to Hobart, Tasmania and she's looking for some good beers.

What would be the best options?

    Cheers!

I hate bringing attention to it, but Two Metre Tall are doing some incredibly solid stuff. Both their core range of seasonal offerings and their limited release sours/'farmhouse' beers are worth finding.

    And fresh Moo Brew.

While I haven't sampled anything myself, I've heard good things about Seven Sheds.

Be fair to say that after a strong start Tassie has fallen behind the other States in the last 5 years.

That seems to be changing though. A host of new brewers have come on line in the last year or so and plenty more look to be imminent.

I've been impressed with the beers from newcomers Devil's Brewery and Hobart Brewing Company. Two Metre Tall have improved their QC a lot and I loved their Cleansing Ale last time I had it.

Have to agree with @spicelab. Not a lot of adventurous stuff being brewed in Tassie (well, outside of 2MT but Im not sure thats the right owrd for their beer anyway).
Highlights being Seven Sheds (especially their darker stuff - Stark Raven, Willie Warmer),
Morrisons (core range are solid and some good specialty releases),
Moo Brew I hear are looking to do some new stuff so Im keen to see what they can do,
    Kick Snare availability is increasing,
Last Rites should be brewing their own in weeks,
    Van Diemans always deliver,

    eh, what else...

    From a pub pov,
The Winston (who will also be brewing their own later this year), New Sydney, Preachers, should keep her social calendar booked out. Also Jack Greene, Westend Pumphouse, and The Warratah (for sports and a top bottle shop) are worth checking out.
