I just came across this list from Thrillist.com of their list of the best beer bars in every State. I thought this would be a good topic for discussion.

For Connecticut they list Eli Cannon's which is a great bar. I have some others that I like as well such as The Corner Tavern in Naugatuck and J Timmothy's in Plainville. What do you think of the picks for your State?

I'd say perhaps one of the HopCat locations in Michigan, Bier Stein in Eugene or Belmont Station in Portland for Oregon.

I personally do think 'Aces & Ales' is the best bar in Las Vegas.

They got CO right. Even with lots of new (some great) places opening, the FRTH is still the gold standard.

It's hard to fault their choice though. The Horse Brass is an institution that's managed to remain relevant and popular for 40 years, despite a huge influx of competition.

Mekong/Answer or Birch for VA, so I guess they got that right.

Publick House in Boston (well, Brookline), especially now that Trillium's on tap again.

Blind Tiger in NYC is my favorite (especially for domestics) despite lots of great places.
Novare Res in Portland, ME is a good choice, but arguments for Ebeneezer's, Great Lost Bear and I expect a couple of others are valid. (-Monthly trips to ME over the past four years).

I'm not a NYC person, but it's hard for upstate bars to compete with NYC ones that get HF. Blind Tiger is certainly up there, along with Ginger Man and Torst. For upstate, maybe Blue Tusk in Syracuse?

Thirsty Monk in Asheville, Novare Res in Portland and Monk's Cafe in Philly are all favorites. I find Farmhouse in Burlington to be overpriced and would prefer Pro Pig, Blackback, or Doc Ponds in VT.

As I sit here reading that the Thrillist choice for the state of Washington is pine box, I toil back and forthe with the idea of simply saying that I dont agree and leaping forward into a long and argues process highlighting each and every facet as to why I dont agree. Pine Box is a great place to get good craft beer and a nice unique menu. However, I simply think that there are a slew of locations that (to keep it simple) do it better. Brouwers Cafe, The Beer Junction, Chucks Hop Shop and E9 are just a few that if not compete very well with Pine Box, surpass it in multiple areas. Competitively in the variables of selection, atmosphere and What I refer to as processes I feel that Brouwers Cafe and The Beer Junction would win in every area.

    Meh. Taphouse is O.K.
Personally I'd say Wine Spot, La Cave Du Vin, even Buckeye Beer Engine and The Brew Kettle to have the most consistently-solid, if not extraordinary draft lineups, each with its own respectively nice atmosphere. But that's just in Cleveland. Can't speak for the other big C's.

I completely agree with el bait shop in iowa. Disagree on the choice for georgia though, having lived in atlanta for several years. I think that the porter in five points is slightly better.

Chucks and the Beer Junction are both amazing spots with great tap lists and awesome selections for off premise, but when I think of best beer bar, I think of places that are strictly bars, and not on-premise/off-premise combos. I just think that places that are also bottle shops never have quite the same beer bar vibe as places that are only bars. Not to say that they can't be the best at what they do, but i wouldn't put them at the top of a best beer bar list.

I have never been to Eli Cannon's, which was the pick for Connecticut. My vote is for Cask Republic in Norwalk. Although there is a CR in both Stamford and New Haven as well.
