...which has the #2 or #5 Train station a block or less away. I"m in the Bronx. Thanks, guys!

One block is tough. the Jeffrey is about 2.5 (avenues though) from the 5 at 59th.

Yup the Jeffrey is my vote. Its really close to 59th st stop. If you get out of the subway at the 60th and 3rd exit its only 1.5 avenues over.

Just checked out their web site. Lots of good beer on tap. When saddled up at the bar, is this strictly for enjoying the beer without the usual TV's? Or do they have TV's locked into sports? Thanks again for the responses.

Are you against transfers? What about to a local train? So strict!

I'm not against local trains as long as my travel time to and fro, is the shortest possible.

yeah I almost threw out Blind Tiger, but required a switch from the 2 to the 1.

Yeah man... I had Blind Tiger in sight, but the fact that I have to transfer to another train is not what I'm looking for. The #2 and #5 trains are within walking distance. Hop on, get off, walk a block, and I'm at a very nice beer bar. So far I think The Jeffery is my best bet. I will also have to look into the Express bus schedule. One of the drop offs is at 84th and 5th Ave. I do not think there is a good beer bar in that area. Thanks, fellas...

Barleycorn in FiDI might actually fulfill the one block requiremnet from the 2. Wouldn't pick it over the Jeffrey though

Bondurants 85th and 2nd is close to the 5.

+1 Jeffrey off the 5 and Dive Bar on Amsterdam at 96th off the 2.

You can also check the menu for each before you go out.

Yeah, it's one of my neighborhood spots. It isn't the most exciting bar in Manhattan but the beer is solid and the vibe is fun. It doesn't try to be edgy or cool and is pretty unassuming in the way of beer. It does get pretty busy at times as once you're above 85th or so, the UWS dries up in the way of bars until 105th and this is the go to spot.

Always a couple interesting options on the menu though. Looking over it now, they've got crooked stave blueberry, some other half, a bunch of sweetwater (new to NYC!) options, and curieux (this tends to always be on tap). I first tried Ninja vs Unicorn at Dive Bar on 95th, and they usually have a cask ale or two, accompanied with a warning about what cask ales are!

Thanks. I visited their web site. I am visiting tomorrow early afternoon. Is their current tap list as advertised? I'd love to try the curieux. I thought this beer was retired.

I'm pretty sure curieux is still available on draft and in bottles all over town.

The website indicates when it was updated so that's pretty near as advertised with "Updated 10/03/2015."

Is this the bar in your area where you live? If not... what other beer bar would you recommend close to the 2 and 5 train lines in mid-town/uptown?
