I will be coming to Austin this week for business and staying overnight for the first time in two or three years. I will be staying downtown. I have in the past just hiked the three or four blocks from the hotel to The Ginger Man but want to know if there are some other places to seek out with a good selection. Also, for giggles, snickering and laughs while I'm sipping a beer or cocktail later in the evening, any good cougar bars and/or people watching bars in downtown you would recommend? I'm staying mid-week so I understand the options, if any, might be limited. Thanks!
Walking distance from downtown - Craft Pride and Bangers, both on Rainey Street. Both are also good places to people watch, and perhaps hear music. As for dirty 6th area bars with good craft, try Easy Tiger, Chicago House or Brew Exchange
Bars are open pretty much every day, mid week does not matter. Check out Bangers and Craft Pride on Rainey St if you just want to stay around the downtown area. A hole world of stuff available if you can get around town.
