I will be welcoming my first boy (second child) into this world in July and I'd like to acquire ONE beer to commemorate his birth year. My plan is to cellar this beer until his 18'th or 21'st birthday. Any advice?

    Cheers and thanks.

Well I put a few aside for me to drink when my daughters turn 21, 2011 & 2013 Birth years. I put aside DFH WWS, DFH 120, I have some other random stuff, but those two are the two I plan on saving at least 2 bottles of...oh and I got some Bigfoot from 2013 (which reminds me to ISO of 2011s). I didn't think to get any Bigfoot in 2011, but wish I did because I had a 1995 one this year and I really enjoyed it.

I'd say get a few.... pick a bunch of stouts with high abv.. black tuesday, utopias, wws. Also do some wilds and lambics and see if you can find some of the more recent thomas hardys as I hear they age great. Id also put away a piss beer like bud or miller just to experiment as well...

The options I'd consider off the top of my head:

    Hair of the Dog Adam
    Hair of the Dog Fred
    Rochefort 10
    Westvleteren XII
    Tilquin Gueuze
    Cantillon Gueuze
    3Fonteinen Gueuze
    Bruery Bois

Very few stouts will be good after that much time.

I did this for my sons and picked up some bottles of Fuller's Vintage Ale from each of their birth years.

Gueuze, seems to be the one people report that ages best for that long
