A breakfast stout is an easy call, right?

    Today I had this IPA:
Femme Fatale Yuzu Pale, featuring yuzu fruit and brettanomyces. A favorite of mine, and quite suitable as the grapefruit juice to accompany my breakfast.

    Cheers!

I am swayed by any label. FBS is perfect for breakfast, I only drink Maine Beer Co's Lunch for lunch, and Permanent Funeral is perfect for a you-know-what.

Since you are in Ohio, you can probably get ahold of some Maumee Bay Total Eclipse Breakfast Stout. I enjoy it a little more than FBS.

I don't drink beer in the morning, but if I did and I had the money it would be fresh Cantillon fruit lambics. I like fruit juice in the morning, not chocolate shakes.

I agree FBS is outstanding. Locally, we have something called Beachwood Mocha Machine and Smog City Groundwork Coffee Porter.

I'm looking for an IPA that doesn't taste bitter or hoppy.

IPA's that don't taste bitter are increasingly common and may even be commonplace in five years due to the growing popularity of dry-hopping with tropical fruity hop varietals (as opposed to ones that taste like grapefruit or pine needles). IPA's that don't taste hoppy though....it's like a fruit lambic that doesn't have any fruit flavors. There's no point.:astonished:

FBS is, of course, amazing and a given for a good way to start the day. Another one that comes to mind is DFH Chicory Stout. It has a nice belnd of roasted malts and coffee flavors. Being someone that doesn't drink beer for breakfast, I'd like to give a good lambic a go. Pair that with waffles and fruit, I imagine it would be very tasty. Enjoy what you like!

Imperial Java Stout from Santa Fe Brewing. Anchor Porter---which I've just had an it kinda reminded me of eating waffles with bacon. Which reminds me, I'd say Schlenkerla's beers have a smoked ham thing going on. I'd give those a run.

I'm a big fan of Wits and Hefe's for/with breakfast. Use either as fluid when you make scrambled eggs, or the wash for French Toast. Mix some into the waffle/pancake batter. As a confirmed coffee hater, it bores me to see the constant barrage of coffee stouts listed anytime this subject comes up. Think outside your coffee cups, what flavors are most breakfast foods? Grains, meat, fruit. Try a Rauchbier with your sausage, a clean, dry Pils as a palate cleanser, and a Wit with your eggs and waffles.

I like a nice tripel in the morning. Soft fruits and honey sweetness.
