I am totally down with all of the stout love. I love all coffee stouts, and I didn't even make it all the way through the comments before I see that Founders has a lot of friends in the "Yes, I'm having a beer at this hour. Want to make something of it?" crowd. Not pointing fingers - I am a proud member.

But I have another couple of suggestions. Think of brunch fare. Eggs Benedict, quiche, poached salmon, sausage, ham, potatoes, frittatas, etc. I suggest you consider a nice spritzy hefeweizen. Or maybe a tart witbier or a fruit lambic. Even a Bohemiam Pilsner. I love a good beer buzz in the morning as much as the next guy and I certainly love KBS, but I think a lighter, brighter, sharper, spritzier, lower in alcohol beer actually works better with the food served at brunch.

I'm more on the fruit side of the debate myself and I love sours. Dogfish Head festina peche has a nice mimosa-like quality and it won't set you back since the abv is nice and low. I brought a case to the beach last weekend and it was gone within 24 hours. Whoops.

Founders Breakfast Stout is the "breakfast of champions" as far as I am concerned.

Sixpoint 3beans Porter is a nice combo of barely, cocoa, and coffee beans that would work as a breakfast beverage.

FBS would be my 1st choice but also try Port Brewing Board Meeting. You won't be disappointed.

I can see how all the coffee infused stouts will make the breakfast beer cut, but I had an Ayinger Dunkel with scrambled eggs and maple sausage for a late breakfast not long ago and it was amazing. The beer stood up to the delicate meatiness of the eggs and the sausage picked up on the caramel/toffee flavors of the beer. And it was so easy drinking that it was perfect to wash down all the protein!

I can't believe how many people drink beer with breakfast. Not saying it's a bad thing, I'm just suprised.

    Breakfast:

All around: < Founders Breakfast Stout >
Heavy meal : Sausage, bacon, homefries, eggs, etc < Stone Espresso Imperial Russian Stout >
Lighter meal: Fruits, danish, etc < Victory Brewing - Golden Monkey Triple >
Continental: Light Cheeses, Cured/Smoked Pork products, etc < Green Flash Saison Diego >

    OR for something different:

Beer Bloody Mary - Standard Bloody Mary mixing, but instead of Vodka use < Sixpoint The Crisp >
