    Hello Forum,

I'm looking to purchase a craft set as a gift for my brothers birthday. Originally I had been looking into the Hopside Down beer glass sets, but after reading reviews, customers say these glasses break all too easily. I was looking into double walled glasses, but in general these seem flimsy, i.e., the inner layer is too fragile.

The 2 sets I'm now looking at are the Spiegelau Craft Set and the True Beer craft set. I know the Spiegelau is crystal, but I'm not sure if the True Beer set is the same quality, although it seems to get high reviews on their site. I'm interested in your opinion between these 2 sets if you have any experience with either or which quality you've found to be better over time, in general etc. Thank you!

I have the Spiegelau set and I would say it is fair. The Truebeer set really looks nice. If he is really a beer geek you might add a TEKU. to the order.

Thank you for letting me know the Spiegelau set is just fair TrappistJohn. Unfortunately for me, my brother is very particular, so I want to be sure to get something that he will appreciate. I do think I may add a Teku glass. All this looking around has made me want to get a Rochefort Chalice for myself!

As for the Libby glasses, I had looked at them, but they are a little thicker glass then I am looking for. The True Beer set seems like it may be the right one. Thank you for your opinions. Much appreciated.

Bubbles, you need a Rochefort chalice. They are especially nice. Photos don't do them justice.

Everybody needs a Rochefort chalise. It should be required.

What this poster said. C&B will give you an excellent opportunity to mix and match. I own a Spiegelau set and they are great glasses but extremely thin-walled, which limits my use because I feel like I'm going to break them - I also got it for $15

Libbey craft beer glass set. $20 bucks = buncha glasses. One for every occasion, good heavy glass and looks great. Then buy the chimay goblet in the gift set that includes the beer and there's your chalice. Now if you are serving these beers to guests then shop the libbey glassware in sets of four at most stores.

Honestly, your best bet for nice glasses is either the Libbey box set (grab two or four complete sets) or going to a Salvation Army/Thrift Store. Alot of the time you'll find rare items at thrift stores in sets for a couple bucks total. If you can clean and polish them nicely, you'll be set. That's what I do and I have a pretty damn solid collection if I do say so myself.
