I'm certain there are many threads on this already, but I'm looking for a great beer kit for a delicious homebrew! I am partial to IPAs, but I'm looking for your opinions as to what your favorite homebrew out there is... I'm lazy and am thinking about using a malt extract. Keep that in mind when posting... Would you recommend I go to a Beer/Wine Brewery shop, purchase it on a particular company's website, or just get something from Amazon.com? Bring on the beer kit reviews!
Well this well get moved to the homebrew forum, but go with a kit like this to start: http://www.northernbrewer.com/shop/...arter-kits/essential-brewing-starter-kit.html you will still need to get some things like a pot, hydrometer, secondary fermenter (optional) ect.. Good luck.
You probably should post this in the homebrewing forum, but major homebrew sites all allow for reviews of their kits. I have had good luck with both midwestsupplies.com and northernbrewer.com
If you have a homebrew shop near you, you should go there. Call them and ask if someone experineced in IPAs can help build a recipe with you. If they're working, go up there and tell them at least 3 things that you want out of an IPA or that you enjoy in an IPA and s/he can help you get your batch going. This will also help give guidance for hops to use. hands-on experience never hurts and I think the beer always tastes better when you invest time and interest in it.
Northern brewer is great and there tongue splitter is a very nice low gravity hop bomb that I think you'll enjoy
OK, first question. Have you ever brewed before? Will you need all the equipment, irate you an experienced Brewer that is looking for ideas for a new recipe?
Thanks for the input... I think I'm going to get Dead Ringer IPA Extract Kit w/ Specialty Grains You guys inspired me to check out the kits from Northern Brewer and I was sold when I saw that beer.
I've brewed Northern Brewer's Chinook IPA extract kit and it is very simple and tasty. Light on malt and big on hops!
