AHH such a great idea! I have always thought of this but haven't gotten the great chance to visit even 1/4 of these great states. Can't wait to know everyone's favorites. I think my favorite part about traveling is trying the locals brews in different states.

Some strange picks.. some expected like PtE and BCBS.

Being from NJ, this article just kinda makes me realize how crappy our brewers are when Ramstein blonde is even in the picture when best beers are being sorted. I've had their Ramstein lager and it is pretty underwhelming. Im thinking something from Riverhorse or Flying Fish (the exits) would be better. Even Beach Haus winter somethingorother is better imho.

Edit: and O my, PA's best being Prima Pils? Its a Pilsner... granted a well crafted one... but i can think of a Weyerbacher Heresey/Simcoe IIPA or Victory Storm King, Hop Devil, Hop Wallop!!!

As with any list, they're very subjective and interesting to read, but never without argument. The choices for Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio glared at me since most of the beer I consume is from the Great Lakes region.

LOL ... I was worried this one another crappy map / usual suspects with chopped logos.

Good list, thanks for the post.

Yeah being from New Jersey myself, it sucks that we don't have very many good brewers/breweries.

Being from Texas, Petit Prince isn't even in the top 30 beers from Texas. Other than that its not a bad list.

Yeah, Prima Pils for PA isn't even close (and PP is a very solid brew, but there's so many better choices out there). Dark Intrigue (Victory's barrel aged Storm King RIS), Weyerbacher's Double Simcoe or maybe Insanity, and Yards Love Stout come to mind.

Complex is awesome and the list isn't so bad either.

Edit: For what it's worth I think Prima Pils is easily the best beer Victory makes and as such represents PA well from my west coast view.

Washington is way off. Elysian makes some great pumpkin beers, but Dark O' the Moon is not one of them.

The list sucks, Pliny for Cali and Funkwerks for Colorado? Good beers, but not the best by any stretch.

FWIW... Le Petit Prince is my favorite beer out of all their regulars. People poo-poo on it because of its' low ABV... but that stuff is marvelous. Lots of taste in that beer.

DE - I agree it has to be DFH, and I even get that it should be something iconic for the brewery - but then why not 60 minute IPA? I'd say that beer did much more for the brewery and beer scene than Shelter did or still does do... Chicory Stout or Midas Touch would have also been great choices from DFH considering what the writers were going for.

OH - Christmas Ale is certainly iconic, but I hate that they think that this is a best beer to showcase from the state. I'd rather see Dortmunder Gold over this, though Edmund Fitz seems the most logical choice of all to me.

Nonetheless it's actually a decent list surprisingly.

Is there better? Probably. I still defenetely prefer Prima Pils for instance to both Weyerbacher you mentioned (they are still really good, don't get me wrong) Prima Pils is very good beer and especially when you think ABV and style. Really refreshing and perfect beer for that style (I would say "American Pilsener")

Still I love Storm King also, havent had DI though. It is very hard to get for Scandinavian.

I don't like lambics so I'll never agree to any list like this but they obviously put some effort into it except for KY. That bourbon barrel ale is hideous.
