I have done a few BOPs at the Brewkettle in Strongsville, Ohio, but would like to do my own homebrewing. Sorry if this is a simple question, but what's the best book to get started with?
Yes, read Palmer's book for the nuts and bolts. Read Papazian's classic "The Complete Joy of Homebrewing" if you wish to be inspired.
Agreed on "How to Brew" being the best step by step for beginners as well as providing good information for intermediate to advanced brewers. My favorite Papazian book is "Microbrewed Adventures." It's full of some great stories and is a great insight to Papazian's attitude towards brewing.
Brewing classic styles is a great book with 80 award winning recipes that you can brew to get the process down before you start tinkering with recipes.
