So the wife and I relocated from MN about 3 weeks ago and I've been struggling to find a good place for single cans and bottles of beer to purchase. I am a fan of the mixed 6 pack and am trying to get a taste of the local beers here. Coming from MN we had the behemoth Total Wine and that was nice to get single bottles of each new release that came out. Couple that with the fact that I now know absolutely zero of the beers here and nothing looks familiar (save for the standards like Bells, New Belgium, Goose, etc) and I'm completely in over my head.

I've visited Cappy's, O'Bryan's Wines and Spirits, Casual Pint - Mason, and BC's Bottle Lodge in Liberty Township. Fairfield Jungle Jims is about 30 minutes away so only gone there once or twice, but I'm jonsing for some help from my beer folks. Any other recommendations (other than the 3-4 month old IPA's that I'm finding at Meijer/Kroger)?

The Party Source, right over the river in Bellevue, KY. Huge beer (and everything else) selection and an always rotating crowler list. Not to mention, Braxton Labs is attached which rotates another 40 taps of house and guest beers.

JPs Foodmart on Paxton Guinea in Loveland and the Root Cellar on Montgomery in Kenwood. Cappy's has about the best local selection IMHO, but O'bryan's has overlooked goodness, as does the Kroger in Landen... All of them get the same stuff - you have to make the rounds if you want quantity or find something random and particularly awesome.

if you are really hanging onto the singles thing, Id checked out Hyde Park wine and spirits (its a little more central, but if you're NE then just shoot down 71 and it shouldnt take too long) - they allow you to take singles from any 4/6 pack in the whole store and they carry a big selection. Only thing I would be wary of is hoppy stuff cause 90% of the stock is warm, so id check dates on the hoppy stuff.

Trader Joes does this too and I've loved it. My wife won't question a few $10 charges from a grocery store, but the frequent flyer trips to bottle shops sometimes get on her radar.

In my experience. O Bryan's (as you've mentioned already) has one of the better singles selections in the city. It's just not that popular of a format around here, right wrong or indifferent.

Jungle Jims has a lot of stuff on the singles shelves, but most of it has been sitting for a while.

I'll be visiting my family in Cincinnati this weekend. I grew up there and am bck regularly, so somewhat familiar with the shops. That said, not much time to run around or call, so figured I'd ask a couple pointed questions:

    1) Any places in cincinnati Crowler yet?

    2) Anything real recent drop locally that I should seek out - whether that is from a local brewery or just some recent drop of something you like.

    Thanks in advance.

Places I know that do Crowlers...

    Delhi Liquor
    Higher Gravity
    Brink Brewing Co.
    Streetside Brewery

Can't really offer much help on the recent drop question.

To add to the Crowler list:
    Rhinegeist
Cappy's Loveland (I'm not sure about Norwood)

Higher Gravity is a really cool spot, they have a big selection of singles that you can drink while you are there, which is a nice touch.

In terms of drops, Listermann releases something basically every Saturday now. Streetside just released Suh Brah, their NE IPA.

Avoid the 5th Anniversary from Rhinegeist, it was a flavorless mess.

I should also note, that Nine Giant is having a bottle release on Saturday at 10 am.

Heavy Metal Drummer - RIS Aged in Buffalo Trace
Headmaster Ritual - Barleywine Aged in Four Roses Barrels.

2/ea $18. This is their first bottle release.

    Thanks, guys! Really appreciate it.

Time to do some digging on those and see if there's any crowlers worth taking back. More than likely I won't even get a chance to stop, so looking to have someone from my family stop by on their way home from work tomorrow.

I'll let you know if i come away with anything!
