In continuing the trend of the "Best of" threads of late, what are the best breweries in the Kitsap area? I'm biased towards Silver City myself, as I live pretty close to their restaurant, but I'm planning on going to Propolis next week, so there may be a new contender.

Propolis is pretty amazing. I'm guessing they'd probably get more attention if they weren't out on the peninsula.

Their Pi is one of the best new beers I've had this year.

I'll just stick with Kitsap. Silver City for barrel aged beers, Sound for Belgian and dark beers, Rainy Daze for IPAs and Bainbridge for draft only.

To add to the thread, Valholl makes a pretty good IPA and a porter. I've seen both around town as well as at the brewery (which is dog friendly). Rainy Daze is right around the corner from me but I understand they are moving to the old Sound facility by August. Poulsbo is becoming a beer destination.

Don't spend much time in downtown Bremerton but Der Blokken has never disappointed at Pumas games. If I have anything left in the tank after Bremerton Brewfest, I'll hit up Wobbly Hops and Lovecraft downtown. Both making a go of it. While we are still talking about downtown Bremerton, Toro Lounge has the best curated beer menu. Where I get my Pfriem and Chuckanut fixes.

I'm a huge Silver City fanboy, IMHO, certainly top 10 in the state, and likely top 5. I've liked the few things I've had from Valholl, Sound is always very good, I've only had Der Blokken at fests, and they've seemed a bit hit or miss, and Rainy Daze does make some nice IPAs. Propolis makes very good stuff, but are kinda in their own niche.

Seems like Sound beers have been fewer on the ground in my area. I wonder if they're bottling less or just not getting as much shelf space in Spokane?

Well, they've been generally sparse around here, except for my local specialty beer store, but a few things can be found at the places I shop. There's never huge quantities, but pretty much always something around.

I'd like to second the recommendations for Propolis in Port Townsend. I visited their taproom last week, and was thoroughly impressed. Such a variety of inspired and well-made saison so and herbal ales. I agree that Pi (strawberry and rhubarb saison aged in Malbec barrels!) is wonderful.

First time posting ever lol just FYI. If your ever in line for the ferry or heading over to Kingston, Downpour makes some solid IPAs as well. I really enjoy Sound and Valholl. Salmon is in my top 3 all time favorite BA saison's from Propolis.
I have yet to visit Slippery Pig whats seems to be the consensus on them?

Welcome fellow Washingtonian! I saw Downpour the other day when going through Kingston, but didn't have enough time to stop by. I'm not sure about Slippery Pig, haven't had them yet.

So I just got back from Propolis Brewing, and I have to say their beers are quite interesting (I split a flight with my brother and had a six ouncer). I picked up a bottle of the Fennel and one of the Fructus.
