Live in Northwest Indiana. Doing this sober October thing Joe Rogan does every year. Taking my vacation at the end of the month and gonna drive the half hour down 30 to the mokena binnys. I can get fff/half acre/pipeworks all closer than that. So looking for more rare stuff. Looking to spend roughly $75-100 in one go. Any top lists or whatever of breweries I should be looking for? Go to the one in Orland instead so I can hit trader Joe's as well?

I'm not going to be able to answer questions specific to that area, since I'm never around there, but I think the "best breweries" question depends on what sort of beer you're looking to buy (hazy IPAs? BA stouts? etc.).

Well pale ales, english stouts and ales, dark American porters etc. Mostly dark stuff for fall with a few ipas and pale ales thrown in. Funny thing this whole idea came up when I passed on pseudo sue at binnys the other day

Well if you're planning on just being in the Mokena area. You can hit Tribes across the street from Binny's, they usually have a decent tap list. I'd also checkout Hailstorm in Tinley, about a 10 minute ride. From there head over to The Open Bottle, excellent bottle shop with about 6-8 taps. The Open Bottle is also right off of Harlem and 80 so you can hop back on the expressway from there.

I forget what's being distributed, but I'm thinking some of Revolution's barrel-aged stuff might be going out around that time, so might be a good thing to look for.

Been to the open bottle a few times before concerts this summer. Haven't been to hailstorm yet

If you're coming over on 30, I always think Flossmoor Station does a legit business that falls under the radar simply because they don't really distribute and it's a haul from Chicago.

Haven't been there in awhile. But yeah good food, good beer, and a couple times a week you can get $3 pints. But I would think it would be the easiest south suburban brewery to access from Chicago being next to the tracks for the metra

If your making the trek to Hailstorm or Open Bottle you might try 350 brewing which is directly across the street from Open Bottle and has to go stuff. Also Soundgrowler is relatively new and have never been but is right around the corner from Hailstorm and has to go beer. Heard their tacos are very good also. Good luck

Been to both one right after the other before a Judas priest concert a month or two ago. 350 was a little loud imo but cool vibe. Can't blame a punk Rock bar for being loud. Beer was alright didn't blow my mind. Food looked good though. Open bottle is kind of expensive and doesn't tell you the price till you check out. I might go to the Orland binnys just so I can go to trader Joe's also

Sober October? That sounds like a terrible idea. Not drinking for 1 month isn't going to even out over drinking for the other 11.

Haven’t been back to 350 in awhile, beer was average at best . As for the Open Bottle, it is a little high but as far as their pricing. Draft prices are in the menu and bottles always marked. Not sure where your issue was.

It wouldn't hurt thing any. Not sure why anyone would oppose that idea for another person.

Draft prices include tax and bottles are always tagged with pricing. If you're making your own 6-pack, you can bring it up to the register and get a receipt with individual prices on it, as the sign says by that section.

No but, when it comes time to stop wearing shorts and start wearing jeans and your only option is to go out and buy knew ones maybe a break ain't a bad idea and when everybody else is doing it it makes it easier. Plus it will be cheaper

Exactly what I mean. If making a six pack you don't find out about the price of the bottle until you checkout. They could save the hassle of putting it back on the shelf if they just labeled the price in the first place.
