Victory at Sea. Easy choice. If you haven't had it let me know and I'll send you one.

Victory at Sea is incredible. But if you get the chance try a Harpoon 100 Barrel Series El Triunfo Coffee Porter. It's right up there with VAS and one of the best beers I've ever had!

Same. Best beer I've ever had, and that includes the other world-class porters/stouts.

The distinction between "stout" and "porter" is dubious these days so the question really is what is the best coffee stout/porter. Then you have KBS, BCBCS, Ten Fidy, Peche Mortel, Victory at Sea, etc.

Jack's Abby Barrel Aged Framinghammer. No contest. I've never tried a porter that was more silky smooth or well balanced than this beer.

I think if someone is looking explicitly for a porter I'd hesitate to recommend the JA Framinghammer with coffee. In all honesty I liked that beer better than KBS, but it really drinks like a heavier stout than what I think of as a porter (probably at least partially due to my own misconceptions about porter).

Also, I'm surprised to see so many votes for Everett and so few for Twilight of the Idols, Everett's winter-brewed HF cousin. Twilight has the same fresh coffee taste that I love in Founders Breakfast Stout, along with a bit of extra vanilla and a smooth porter mouth feel.

Aside from Victory at Sea, I would go with Berkshire Brewing Co. Coffeehouse Porter

I've also got a bottle of Twilight of the Idols up for grabs if anyone is curious about that. Not trying to derail the thread at all. You folks clearly love your coffee porters. About the only way something containing gluten and coffee could be a worse idea for me is if it was fermented with lactic sugars.

There is a small brewery by me, Crown Brewing, that has a Java Porter and variants. I've had the mocha fudge brownie and a Vermont maple pecan as well as the regular Java Porter. Outstanding! Unfortunately, they are only available on tap or growler.
