hey all - sorry to be such a tourist, but I am staying in Times Square this weekend and would appreciate local recommendations for a bar featuring top notch craft beer - really interested in trying local NY only stuff as well as a variety solid craft standards - good food would be a bonus! If this has been covered in another thread please feel free to leave a link - thanks so much!

Valhalla is kinda close to Times Square depending on where you're staying. But best bets are prob ginger man or rattle n hum which are both a quick subway/maybe a 15 min walk from Times Square

The subway, cabs and uber are your friends. Don't feel stuck in times square - you can easily venture to other, more interesting neighborhoods

With that being said, my 3 favorites within 10ish minutes: Pony Bar, Valhalla, Beer Authority. Agreed on ginger man and rattle n hum being a reasonably short walk

Uber it over to Brooklyn for Spuyten Duvil, eat at Fette Sau and then finish it off with a long stay at Barcade.

The Ginger Man and Rattle N Hum are within walking distance of Time Square, both offer excellent draft lists.

I used to travel to NYC frequently for work and was usually put up in Times Square; Ginger Man was a very easy walk.

First of all check out beermenus.com - theres a find places nearby feature - so walk around and it shows places nearby and what's on tap.

    My midtown list:
The Jeffrey (highly recommend over all else)
    Pony Bar
    Kiabacca
There's a bunch on 9th ave in the 40's, forget some of the names but beermenus will sort you out.
    Beer Culture
Ginger Man & Rattle n hum (atmosphere challenged)
Valhalla (haven't been but have good list)

Beer Culture is a good bet. Pony Bar too. But anything that anyone else has said is A-OK, too. Some of these depend on your mood and preferred atmosphere.

Not even being a wise-ass, I highly recommend getting out of that neighborhood, but as others have said there are some good bars in the general area.

If you want to really go nuts, jump on the subway and hit Other Half.
