I have a day trip into suburban Chicago (specifically western suburbs, LaGrange area) this Friday and want to know if anyone has opinions on the best craft beer selection near there. Extra points if some great Chicago area beers are sold there. Thanks in advance.

One stop is all you need. BINNY's Willowbrook. Rt. 83, just North of Plainfield Rd. West side of street. 15 minutes from LaGrange center. From south end of town, go south on LaGrange Rd. 2 lights to Plainfield Rd. Take a right (west) on PF, then right on Rt.83/Kingery (8 lights?) Swing to left lane to take fast approaching left turn into B's. Happy shopping!!!

Just realized who runs/owns? that place. . .

He is a seriously cool dude who I've ran into at a few different events around Chicago. There's literally 3 people I can say that about.

Definitely second this. Dave at the Beer Cellar is the best, and he gets all the Pipeworks and other local stuff you could want.

Some Binny's are hit or miss, but the Willowbrook and Downers Grove locations are pretty solid.

Binnys gets everything, but is also the most popular, so stuff also moves the quickest.

Good rule of thumb, check the pipeworks website pdubs.net. They have a list of everyone that sells their beer. Pretty good guide to go off of, if they carry PW, they usually know what they are doing, if they arent on that list they dont have a clue.

your closest bet will be mainstreet liquors at 55th street and lagrange road in the town over from lagrange in countryside.
great selection and they always have a few gems on the shelf and seem to get big beer deliveries before anyone else.
if you can find the time and travel, yes, hit binny's up as some have mentioned in willowbrook.

The Prestige Liquors at 55th Street and Willow Springs Road is worth a peek along with Main Street -- it's just west of LaGrange in Countryside. Main Street definitely has a better selection.

The Willowbrook Binny's is about 15 minutes from downtown LaGrange and the Beer Cellar in Glen Ellyn 25 minutes or so.

I live in La Grange Park, Mainstreet has a good selection. Ardmore Station in Villa Park is fantastic (I'm like a kid in a candy store), Binny's in Downers Grove and Willowbrook, Beer Cellar. Prestige isn't the greatest, I find that they have the same stuff at Mainstreet. There is also Angel's Liquor and also Brookfield Liquors on 31st.
Haven't checked out Archer Liquors near Midway, that is next on my list to look into.

I agree with all of the above comments, but would still choose Binny's for a 1 and done stop. I'm sure rugltr5 probably has other things on his itinerary.

Binnys in Willowbrook,Downers Grove, and Glen Ellyn have a great selection. The Glen Ellyn store has 240 bottles to chose from now in their craft your own six pack.

I really appreciate the feedback. Based on my location and available time, I think I've narrowed it down between Binnys in Willowbrook and Beer Cellar in Glen Ellyn. Any ideas which would be better ... PW, FFF, BC? basically stuff I'm not getting in Iowa ...

The Glen Ellyn Binny's is on Roosevelt Road, about five minutes south of The Beer Cellar. Hit 'em both.
