In my beer experience, so far, the one that comes to mind is Lagunitas Undercover Investigation Shutdown Ale. Almost 10% ABV, but you don't notice the alcohol; and it's so smooth and drinkable, it's a bit crazy.

Not your fathers root beer by Small Town Brewing. No alcohol present whatsoever. I think there"s a few variants going all the way up to 19%. Tastes just like a good old fashioned root beer. You could probably even add a scoop of ice cream if you wanted too.

Dogfish Head/Three Floyds collaboration ale, Poppaskull.

10% and you can drink it like a tall glass of water.

Anchorage Brewing Company's Devil with the Devil Barley Wine. Goes down like it's about 10% when it's actually 17%...

If a beer hides its alcohol very well do you consider that to be a positive quality from the brewer? Just curious what you all think.

In terms of really alcoholic beers that don't taste as boozy as they are, I think Maredsous Tripel takes some beating. Quite a friendly beer I thought, nice fruity taste, easy to drink. 10%!

Totally. I was very surprised when I got home and looked up the ABV. Super easy drinking fruit bomb.

I can only guess that you are talking about comparing the two side by side 5+ years ago, because the last 4 or 5 batches of Younger have been so hot that they felt like beer with a shot of vodka added. I don't see how any of that dominant alcohol could be described as "disguised" in Younger. Years ago, yes, but not the Younger that has been released for the past several years. As far as Expo, I have only had that the past several years, so I don't have much to compare to with Younger except the more recent batches of each.

Not sure if anyone previously has mentioned this beer, but I'd have to say:

    Ballast Point Victory at Sea.

Sam Adams Utopias.... >25% ABV depending on the vintage. There is alcohol in this? All I taste and smell is pure bliss...

Depends on the beer for me. Too much alcohol taste in some beers can hide other flavors that I think would compliment the beer more. I couldn't even narrow it down to a style by style basis, because I've had both ends of the spectrum in many styles that I thought were quite good or underwhelming. I know, not a great answer. But I certainly would not call that quality an instant negative in my opinion.

If a beer packs a lot of alcohol, I like it to have a good amount of taste to slow me down. I'm not talking subtle flavor like Duvel or Triples; with those, it's the price that slows me down.
