I've had the High West Rye...

    ...and the Four Roses Bourbon...

But dat Java Stout was just tops - actually went back for a second bottle - and while the Elijah Craig seems to be running away with it, of the three I've sampled, Java Stout was my favorite.

I think they still have a few of the Ryes and the 4R at my liquor store, are they worth picking up?

I was at the brewery last week and most of the bottles were in the 20 to 25 dollars range. I've only tried Rittenhouse rye so far and thought it was amazing.

i would be very, very shocked if there is a such thing as true "Fireball" barrels in order to pull this trick off.

You're going to get a fairly typical barrel-aged stout experience - but for what? ~$30+?
I don't know - look, honestly, and I don't want to discourage you from trying them - but they weren't that exceptional to account for the big ticket price. I've had more reasonably priced but equally (if not more) impressive experiences with Narwhal, Old Rasputin, and BCBS - among other stout experiences... don't feel pressured... but if they're all you get in your area?
Grab one. I'd go bourbon before rye, but that's just me, as it relates to stouts...

EC20 hands down, but Vanilla and Pappy are both up there too.

After reading through this thread I would only buy them at this price...

Just saw the high west bourbon barrel version for 32 and thought it was a price gouge. I figured id head home check BA for pricing, i guess 30 bucks is the going rate. Its tempting, but quite the pricetag.
