With so many great new beers being released in pint-sized cans and bottles these days, what is your favorite glass to enjoy them in?

Personally, almost all of my glassware is meant to accommodate a 12oz pour, but I'd love to get the same snifter-like effect with the tallboys of IPAs I've been buying more frequently, while also being conscious of carbonation loss since the beer is sitting in my glass for longer.

I'm in the exact opposite situation: Most of my glasses are designed to hold a full pint (16 oz/500mL).

The most diverse glasses I have would be a 16 oz tulip or snifter.

I love my Duvel tulip for this exact application.

So many of my glasses will technically hold 16oz as well, but then they'd leave zero headspace. I think somewhere in the vicinity of 20oz would be ideal.

I'm going to take the slightly sarcastic route here.

I use a glass which I feel will best showcase the style no matter the liquid capacity. When filling, I leave enough headspace in the glass to collect volatiles. While consuming I may or may not top the glass up...sometimes I'll finish a glass and pour the remainder. There is really no need to stuff a 16 oz. container into a 16 or 20 oz. glass, it's more a matter of knowing when to stop pouring.

Brewmaster George Reisch is famous for saying, "The wine people have been doing this for years." and I'm not about to admit that they may be smarter than us.

Very true, I didn't really take that into account when I was commenting. Some of my glassware will hold an entire pint with head space and some will hold 7/8th's of a pint.

If I am not "nerding" out and making sure to use proper glassware, I usually grab one of three glasses....New Belgium globe, Duvel/Modern Times tulip, or large snifter (preferred) such as DFH.

I agree with @IceAce , if I'm soloing a larger format bottle, I'll grab my favorite glass for the style and fill it up. Depending on the ABV and how long I think I'll be taking to drink it, I may stopper the bottle and put it back in the fridge otherwise I'll just let it sit until I'm ready for more.

Many of my favorite tulips will hold a 16 oz. pour.

I agree with you 100% for bottles which I'm able to put a stopper in in between pours (hell, I even do this with 12oz bottles of high ABV beers these days).

But where does that leave us with cans? Perhaps you drink more quickly than I do, but if I were to pour 2/3 of a 16oz can of IPA, the remainder would be nearly flat by the time I got around to it.

I was definitely thinking about the NB globe; I've had one for years and it's a damn fine glass, but I think it only holds 500ml which won't give you much headspace at all with a 16oz pour. The Duvel tulip is an obvious choice for sure, but with it's relatively wide rim it's not my favorite for, say, a hoppy beer. I've also used those big ol' 24oz snifters for tallboys, but then you get a good deal of carbonation loss and it may not be the best certain styles.

yeah, these are all viable options and I'll probably be pulling out the Duvel tulip in a minute for just this purpose. What led me to post this thread is it seems to me at least that our favorite glassware maybe hasn't kept up with the rise of the 16oz can in recent years and I'm pretty curious how other BA's approach this format.

The fill line on the NB globe is .47 L and does leave space for a little over one finger of head.

I love my 20 oz. imperial pint glass, it leaves plenty of room for a decent head. I use it for 12 & 16 oz. beers.

Duvel Glass, end thread, cased closed, this is the correct answer and all other suggestions are subpar.

A good old 'nonic' is my favorite pint glass (imperial pint), though lately, my 1/2 pint nonics get a lot more use.
But in the end , andy glass that doesn't leak is the best pint glass. The fancy glasses are fine for pleasing a personal aesthetic, but they are primarily the result of marketing (adimittedly, some very effective marketing).

I'm a huge fan of tulips and stemless wine glasses. 16 oz. pours fit perfectly in most of them.

Standard pint glasses are not really ideal, but they work. If I were you I'd look for a set with a tulip, snifter, and seized glass to start. I would also look for a Sam Adams perfect pint, it is extremely versatile and sometimes can be found for $2 each.
