And things keep getting better! Love Child No. 2 is the first obtainable one in the series but Boulevard is taking it to a yearly release. Amazing Bourbon Barrel Aged Sour. Wonderful flavors and delightfully complex. I've had three bottles at $16 a bottle!

Sorry to hear that. I am under the impression it is going on hiatus this year. Can't remember where I heard that.

Tyranena Dirty Ol' Man Imperial Rye Porter. Hands down one of the best BA Imperial American Porters I've had. The other offerings I've had from Tyranena are solid, but nothing I'd go out of my way to seek out. I wouldn't classify Tyranena as "mediocre," frankly its hard for me to assign that term to most craft breweries, however I'd say they are about average.

I can't get enough of Zombie Dust. If only I didn't have to drive all the way to Munster to get it :slight_frown:

I would respectively say that the entire Smokestack Series has elevated Boulevard to a higher level. Not every six pack they make is pure gold, but nearly everything in the Smoke Stack series is a top notch beer at a very affordable price.

Lakefront's Holiday Spice Lager is delicious.
Also, Highland Imperial Black Mocha Stout. Strange enough, the regular version disappoints big time.

I super disagree with this. Before they did the contract brewing, everything was at or near world class. After they opened back up, everything is mediocre or worse (including St. Nik).

They're worth the trip. I've had a couple of their lambics (blackberry and raspberry), both of which were quality. Also, their Gilgamesh (Flanders Red) is incredible. But like mentioned above, their main offerings are average at best.

I thought Monk's Blood from 21st-A was a standout. I loved it - I was already 1 beer deep but thought there was depth and representative of the style. Couldn't believe the rating it had on the site once i checked.

    Chocolate Stout - Rogue
Adam - Hair of the Dog

FWIW - I'm sure most will rip me for saying these breweries are mediocre which IMO they are only because their lineups don't do anything for me. However, both are obviously very established.

    Upslope Brewing Company.

I didn't care for their Pale or IPA the last time I tried them. Finally visited the brewery and really enjoyed their Barrel Aged Stout (Foreign Export Stout aged in Beam(?), Makers, and Buffalo Trace barrels) and Doppelbock. Also, the Brown Ale had a little smokiness, which was unexpected but quite nice.

Saranac is mostly crappy, bland takes on various styles, but Black Forest, White IPA, Big Moose, and Legacy IPA are all quite good, with Black Forest especially being one of my favorite beers made in NY. The other 95% of Saranac's huge line-up is pretty middling to downright bad.

Also bumping this thread up because of the similar reversed thread going on currently, with the discussion of the worst beer from a good brewery.

It's such a shame cause the vast majority of it really is bad but their brew pub and food in it is awesome and its like 3 minutes from my house. Just sucks always going there and having to order a soda. I wish they would branch out and make new things or figure something out to improve.

Trace of Remy by Taps Fish House & Brewery in Brea, CA. Taps is better than mediocre, but it's not one our elite breweries. I missed out on Trace of Remy because I didn't think it would be that great. I was wrong. My bad.

Full Pint in pittsburgh makes a lot of really OK beers. One that stands out is Rye Rebellion. A very good BAstout.
