So I got my nose/sinus problems fixed recently. DIPAs are awesome.

Are there any D/IPA's readily available in Texas that have that nutty/resinous aftertaste(forgive my wording, I just recently learned to appreciate this style after getting my sense of smell fixed.) like Pliny or Heady Topper?

    Resin

    Pro-Am 2012

    Endeavour

    Hop Stupid

    Hoptimum

Those are the best DIPAs regularly available in Houston IMHO.

I think Hoptimum is old at this point and most likely Hop Stupid is too.

Nothing in Houston that approaches Pliny/Heady.

Go get Deviant Dales. It has a different after taste that punches you right in the mouth.

Forgot about Maharaja too. I basically rotate between that and Resin.

Maharaja is yummy, but old now. Dugana is still fairly fresh.

You're right, but I'm just saying fresh Maharaja does make it out here regularly.

Old Maharaja is still very very good. I actually prefer it with 8 months+ on it.

    In addition to everything mentioned:
    Rodeo Clown
    Torpedo
    Stone IPA
    Jester King Wytchmaker Rye IPA
    (512) IPA and Black IPA
    He'Brew Bittesweet Lennys
    Lagunitas IPA
    Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA

Don't buy SS Pro-Am 2012... it's over for that beer in the freshness department.

If you're lookin' for "Resinous" specifically.... gotta go with Sixpoint Resin. Keep in mind when lookin' for freshness that cans are marked 9 months out from canning for the 'BEST BY' date. (ugh)

I really really REALLY enjoyed the Karbach Rodeo Clown I got recently through canadianghetto as well.

    And Stone Ruination.

That Pro-Am 2012 was something special.

Honestly, canned IPAs tend to stay fresher than bottled.

I'd say you get a good 6 months on a canned IPA.

That said, I have way too many IPAs right now. I better start chugging them. I think I'll be on an IPA bender over the holidays.

I don't know if I'm particularly sensitive, but I bought a SSP-A2012 (gawd, that doesn't shorten well) last month on a lark and it had turned from an amazing DIPA to an alright one. I think the last time they brewed it was at least 3-4 months ago.

    Is resin the nutty quality?

Good notes. I only put the ones I would want to try as a beginner to IPAs. Ruination isn't exactly an entry level beer. I liked Wytchmaker, its different, not the best but pretty good.

I forgot Sixpoint Resin and it was the first one on my mind.

Glad you enjoyed them! I just found out that the Julian Date the cans on the bottom so I can make sure they are even fresher next time. I remember picking those up at Central Market since I feel they a pretty good job selling through their stock.
