Another thread, I know, but this is about steins and stoneware!

Again, looking partially for a gift, some of his favorite beers are

    Deschutes
    Bell's
    Three Floyds
    Dogfish Head
    Surly
    Stone
    Lagunitas

So anything particularly cool out there?

I was tempted to pick up the Bell's Wilderness stein, but I wasn't sure. Anyone have one of those and can lend a review?

There's a killer stoneware company called Sunset Hill Stoneware that's been partnering with Dogfish Head for years. They're a super-high quality USA-made stoneware producer, I have a few different versions of their Dogfish Head mugs and a few other mugs of theirs (one with a celtic cross on it, one with an old medieval-looking sun) that I use for my morning coffee. Every several months Dogfish Head offers a different Sunset Hill mug with their logo on it.

You can see their current one here:

Thanks for the reply! I actually have a DFH one from awhile ago, very nice piece!

So does anyone else have any recommendations of some cool stuff from any of those breweries?

A lot of the stoneware looks the same to me. I know Founders, Summit, Alaskan, Lagunitas and Troegs all have stoneware, but I'm sure there are many more out there. And while the Troegs Java Head Mug is pretty cool, I'd rather go with an Alesmith Speedway Stout Mug instead.
As for steins, besides Hofbrauhaus or Anheuser-Busch, I'm not sure who to recommend. The only ones I have were from Germany, or Anheuser-Busch hand-me-downs from my dad. I really don't use any of them, but they make for a nice display.
    Good luck on your search!

Saranac always has a nice selection of different looking steins. The characters Schultz and Dooley have been around for ages.

Sometimes Junk Bird has some interesting steins. Might check in with them from time to time.

I recently started looking for more of a traditional Oktoberfest beer stein. I found one with the Paulaner logo, on ebay. It's supposed to arrive today. I don't know if you'd be interested, but there's quite a variety. I'm not sure if any American brewers offer them for sale.
I do plan on using mine ...

I picked up the Bells wilderness stein when I visited the brewery and its really nice. You could check out some flea markets or vintage shops and find some really cool traditional German mugs / steins also.
