I've been out of the loop lately and want to catch up. What are your favorite IPA's, old or new, available in stores in SoCal? Doesn't have to be made here, just findable in some stores.

I'll start off with some I like:
    • Port Brewing Mongo
    • Port Brewing Swami
    • Beachwood Amalgamator
    • Alesmith IPA

Pick up any Revision you find . . . most of it is good to great, and it's showing up in more bottle shops. Fresh Lupulin River 12oz. cans have also been showing up.

I almost always skip Alesmith IPA, as it's several months old in most places.

At the moment I’m drinking Lupulin River to flush out the 2 pours of haze I just put in me. For the moment LR is the one for me.

I have been enjoying the Brouwerij West cans I've tried and I'm seeing them in a lot of places: Dig My Earth, Ask The Dust, Alligator, Starfish.

Also the juicy IPAs from Local Craft Beer, Tehachapi: The Cloud Juice is Real AF, Peachin' the Juice, Done Sayin', I'm Done Playin' (those names though....)

Is Local Craft Beer actually good? I've been ignoring them because I absolutely hate their name.

I didn't got a chance to grab any Alligator when it was around but Tahiti Substation and 8 1/2 are both real nice. I think Tahiti is my new second favorite Brouwerij West behind Dig My Earth.

MT's Orderville, year round availability and appeals to lovers of both coasts.

    Cheers,

Wish they'd given credit to Kern River on that recipe (Deep River, before the C&D) and medal. TBH the batch I had of that recipe at KRBC is still my preference, but definitely been buying KD cans.

I've only had a couple, Cryo-Dome which was good, and Peachin' the Juice which was damn solid for my palate and preferences.

Some of the bottles have dates, and I'd say give them a try if fresh. I had some stuff from them when they used to be Honey Wagon Brewing. Honestly their Passionfruit XPA was one of the best NE-Style mouthfeels I'd had on a West Coast brewed hazy recipe at that time...and that was immediately following a trip to Philly with plenty of Tired Hands hazies. And yes, I agree the name is lame...wish they'd kept it as Honey Wagon (especially given its location in Tehachapi).

@jakecattleco I had it up in Kern River as well. Brought back 3 growlers of it during a Citra bottle pick up. It was very good I remember.

Yeah, saying "I liked Local Craft Beer, Tehachapi's Cloud Juice is Real AF more than Done Sayin', I'm Done Playin'" is the dumbest sentence ever. Dumb names but solid tasting juice-beers.

And seems like everything from Brouwerji West has been solid and well-received. I don't see them being talked about much on these forums.

95% of the beer I drink these days is either from Brouwerij West, Highland Park Brewery, or Modern Times. I have a ton of other bottles in my fridge right now and I keep holding off on drinking them because there are so many good beers from those three breweries it's hard for me to keep up.

Popped one yesterday after my Tucson trip and it was tasting sooooo good. That was after a Rev Loot on draft.

Odd man out, but Beachwood's Citraholic has been tasting better for me than Amalgamator since the can-line inception.

The last batch of Amalgamator canned on 1/31 seemed slightly off to me. It's my favorite IPA but that batch just didn't have the punch it normally does. Hopefully it was a one-off miss and something didn't change.

I've only had 4 offerings from LCB and I'm not inclined to try any more any time soon. I'm not a huge haze fan, but I can appreciate a good one. These were all way too juicy and malty for my taste.

Wow! The prices for Brouwerij West is like $20 / 4 pack? Is that like the going price for luxury IPA's?
